So what was your favorite 8 bit Nintendo game?

My favorite game was Tecmo Super Bowl.....played countless numbers of seasons.....2nd only to Civ in amount of hours spent on a single game <IMG SRC="http://forums.civfanatics.com/ubb/biggrin.gif" border=0>

hmmm lets see
1) The Legend of Zelda
2) Dragon Warrior 1-4
3) Mike Tyson's Punch Out
4) Super Mario Bros.
5) Megaman 1-3 (kinda get lame after 3)
6) Baseball Stars
7) Wrecking Crew
8) Metroid
9) Adventures of Lolo 1-3
10) Castlevania II
This is a pretty informal list, there were so many great NES games. If you have an emulator I would suggest trying Kart Fighter.

4) Tecmo Bowl and SuperBowl
5) Zelda 1-2
6) Pirates
7) Romance of the three Kingdoms II
8) Shingen the Ruler
9) Defender of the Crown
10)Contra 1-2
11)Uncharted Waters
12)Silent Service
13)Ninja Gaiden 1-2

16)Bionic Comando
17)Castlevania 1-3 (I liked two the best)

They sure made better Games for this system then for any other.
Things look better now, but the fun seems to be missing from many games today...

I believe they just released a Lufia for Game Boy Color, not sure if its a remake or a new game. Also Double Dragon 2 was better than the first one and TMNT 1 was severely agravating. Zelda 2 is a good game but should not have been a Zelda title. Also Konami was supposedly supposed to rerelease Simon's Quest for GBC but I haven't seen it happen just have to wait for Circle of the Moon I guess.

Yes Tecmo SuperBowl was an excellent game.Very good play control and play calling.Lots of stats!
Ninja Gaiden was beautiful for the time. But you had 3 "sublevels" to each main level and if you died in the last stage you had to start from the beginning! That was bad as there was a major hard spot on stage 6-level 1-iirc- where you had to spin jump between these flying guys.It was sheer luck whether you made it or not.

I spent many hours with Final Fantasy and the Ultima series.Quest for the Avatar was very good.

I prefered Baseball Simulator 1.000.Baseball Stars was a little tricky to control.BS 1.000 had "special" plays and pitches like "fireballs" and jumping 30 feet in the air to snag a would be home run.

NES Open Golf-I hated the cutsy Mario characters but the game itself played great.3 courses and tons of options was cutting edge at one time.

Milon's Secret Castle-this was an early game that was very addictive. You bumped your head to find stuff. It was pretty good.

Silent Service remains one of my all time favs allthough you had to play realistically or it was a snap.I can still see the barrels as I was being depth charged.

CastleVania was a hard game to figure out on your own.You had to do some odd things to open up levels like kneeling in a certain spot with a piece of garlic.

Track and Feild 2 was great. With one of those turbo controls....

.....there were so many..I spent way too much money on that system.I was choked when SNES came out.

Like aofa said, the Dragon Warrior Series was excellent. 3 and 4 particularly. Pure, raw RPG,. No 3-d graphics, no 30 second spell animations, just pure fantasy and fun. Ahh yes, thinking back to the day when 8 bit was where it was at sure brings back memories........

I thought Baseball Stars was the best baseball game I've ever played. With more capable stats and a little refurbishing, it could be great again....

Games from the NES were nothing special graphics wise, but they were as fun or more fun then the souped up graphical games of today....

ah..Mike Tyson's Punch Out..before they changed it...a classic if there ever was one.First NES game I got along with Platoon.
I never beat Mike...came real close once but I choked.Figuring out each guy was cool. That turbin guy was real hard until I figured out to watch his bead. And that cobra punch....cover...cover...cover...cover...cover....BAM.

Nobunaga's Ambition2 was cool also.Kind of an early civ game.Unfying fuedal Japan while maintaining commerce and what not.Cool Music.

final fantasy mystic quest is the worst of all the FF's becaouse its too scripted!
