Looks nice. But did riders sit up at the front on the neck, or did they have mounted constructs on the back?
Also, you could time Russia's entry into the game by making a "deep forest" terrain that is impassable to all "wheeled" units, which could be all units up until a certain date, after which nations could start building unwheeled units that could cross deep forest and interact with Russia.

Yes Asian elephants often had platforms for the passengers. But the driver sat on the neck right there. I think the back was too difficult to sit on without a platform, but too far away to control the elephant. ![]() ![]()

The head looks a bit un-natural IMO. Maybe you could try getting it back to the old form? The ear-shrinking was good though.
The unit already looks very nice

make a vertcal surface and import the comparation. set the elephant to black, and hide the black colour. in this way you will have a hole in the surface, representing a section of the elephant. now introduce the modell in the section, and correct it. also watch the vase like form of the rear legs at an real elephant, they are nor spring like (not tensioned but straight...). do not do what i told you, i just felt it to say....
ps: or you could take the african elephant and modify it to become indian, if nature could you could also. you can really be mad at me by telling you this, but that's it....... Last edited by Jerry'sGoldfish; Sep 11, 2011 at 04:49 AM. |

Asian Elephas tends to show more face and trunk depigmentation than its african counterparts. The apparent skin color varies, mainly because of the quantity of mud the elephant still have on it. I'm under the impression that a domesticated elephant would have less mud on it.

@ Jerry, the model is an African elephant that I am modifying into an Asian elephant. I don't have money for this hobby, and I don't get paid to make units so I didn't buy the baby elephant morph supa posted. I also didn't model the elephant I'm using I got it for free from Daz3d, its the same elephant Yang Liu and probably the other elephant units you see in the download database.
@Supa, I could put some pigmentation on it, but what do you think of the base color?

@Jerry: Could you use [spoiler] brackets (or even [url]) when you're posting so much images ? It's getting tedious to navigate to previous posts, etc.

Looking good, Shiro!
![]() Do you think you'd be able to post a poser file once you're done, so I (and others, I'd hope) could have a little poke-round, and maybe make elephants of the same scale?

You have to go advanced when you post |

OK Russia will be in the game, non playable with a stack of immobile but strong units. Once a tech is reached those units will be upgraded to moveable units.
This way Russia cannot be conquered until it can move around, and hopefully around the 16th century a large Russian army will start moving West to the Pacific. Russia will not be playable. I'm also thinking of Cultural traits -SE Asian countries can build guerrilla units cheaper. -Most of the Japanese culture civs (Yamato, Ainu, Ryukyu) units will be amphibious -Real life East Asian Communist countries (Mongolia, China, Joseon, maybe Tibet and Manchuria) build the People's Army infantry, these are cheaper than normal infantry units but slightly weaker |

two aspects first, really try to make the elephant 15% bigger (really important), second show us a side view animation on the move...
PS once you created a corect animation, you can use it forever. so it is worth trying, my oppinion... Last edited by Jerry'sGoldfish; Sep 11, 2011 at 08:59 AM. |

1. I dont think its going to be any bigger (5% at the most, we talked about it already). I could scale it to make the people seem smaller
2. No where close to animating it yet. But it will be this walk animation: |
