I was very interrested to read all these stuffs you've all written about your strategies.
But something is clear : most of them are dedicated to win by domination, aka using strong army. I like playing until the very end, and having a big score. Usually, I take the french, but I will probably try the Ottomans (nice UU, and scientific may be better than commercial to achieve what I'm doing) Traditionnaly, I'm sending a nice spaceshuttle full of settlers to Alpha Centauri... I - why these civs ? My strategy is the following : rush to techs, few cities but very well developped... Industrious : because I do improve a lot my cities, I need fast workers. On the same way, extra shields help me developping my cities faster. Plus, masonry helps having construction quicker Commercial or Scientific : either the extra bonus of commerce or the extra techs given+cheap scientific improvement help me achieving my goal. This costs money : I do save money my making no wars : I have high tech defenders, that's it. Religion is not really usefull to me, as I never change governement : straight to democraty, and that's it Militarism as well : i'm not using a lot of army so... Expansionism : well, apart from the explorer huge bonus at the beginning, this is pretty useless (scientific and the fact I scout a lot is enough to catch up and overcome the small bonus given by the nice goodyhuts) II - techs : I scout a lot to spot ressources, and to determines the position of borders when my civ and another are going to meet. I build a lot of city at the beginning, but each of them has a reason to exit (powerhouse, access to key ressource, or securing key areas lto block ennemy) Later on, I always secure my ressources by puting a city near it. I rarely fight, but it can happen if I need to have access to a key ressource. I always try to have access to the maximum amont of luxary, so I can put all my money to science... What do you think about this kind of strategy (which doesn"t seem to be very common here) |

I finished my last game on that basic stratregy.. German, and only fought the Russians -- actually to get their central space, since I was too crouded. Won by UN election - 13 t0 1, saved the game and won again with space race.
but I like variety.. I am currently playing Japanese as a warmonger.... |

Ilike your style. You are a master. Begin of now y am going to use your likely civilizations. Moderate nations, a big production, a lot of money and a stronger power.

I have mainly used that strategy but first after i have qonqured at least one civ
![]() Diplomatic or space victory is easy this way because of: Dip: You are not in war in the main part of the game Space: because of your large and productive cities I dont now why but i am best at this with the Japanese... |

i play as japanese full time and i like to make war but i usually win with a space race victory or points lead. i even won with a cultural win once. i win rather peacably but its the blood shed that leads up to it that makes me a war monger, i dont give in and i dont stop till i destroy the civ or they cave in and give me everything they have.
i love playing the japanese. militaristic and religious (happy people that want to kill everyone, makes for a deadly combo).
