Bs

Is it acceptable to use this in OT?

I've seen a distinctive rise in people calling other peoples' arguments "BS" or "crap" or the like, which seems to require no further argument, as it's fairly tautological in itself.

It is apparent to me that such a method of calling out the deficencies in an argument is more acceptable than using a clever one liner instead.

I find it acceptable as long as it's true.
Better than politically correct crap that ends up doing the same thing, just hidden with hypocrital smiles and lots of round-about.

Well, they say attack the argument, not the poster.. so I think it should be ok.

Well, they could call it "solid organic bovine waste material" but that's a lot more typing. Personally, I wish we could just have one of the classic "BS flag" smileys.

From the forum rules:
Quote:
Trolling
• Generally being rude. Being overly critical, or expressing your opinions in a rude manner

You should not pass negative judgment on the quality of other peoples' arguments (eg. referring to their opinions or posts as 'clueless', 'moronic', 'ignorant', 'stupid', ‘fail’ etc).
It's generally trolling (particularly so if just in the vein of 'your argument is BS, and that is all I have to say'). If you see trolling, please report it.

It's absolutely fine to call a post BS. A CFC admin actually called one of my posts "complete and total BS" so obviously it's perfectly acceptable. In fact, that was literally all he said about the post, so Camikaze is wrong - it's not trolling at all.

I have no problem if someone call me out and say my post is nothing but BS. In most cases, everybody in here did a little BS at one or few times. Some just do it more frequently than others.

If you see someone say BS, then don't report the guy as some moderators would like you to do. That to me is trolling.

Eh, I never report posts anyways. It's just counter productive.

So basically from Camikze's post, just about everything in OT is trolling due to way how it is worded and applied.

Thats a quote from the rules!?!!!

Geez, that is literally the worst description of trolling I have ever seen! It could be used to moderate almost any post, even this one!

Exactly. It is a terrible definition of what a troll is.

I wouldn't call the definition 'clueless', 'moronic', 'ignorant', 'stupid', or ‘fail’ as I wouldn't want to troll those words in such a manner.

Never mind. I'm a punk that doesn't feel lucky.

Delete me. (The post, not the user! )
