Not able to sign DoF
Sometimes I have the option to sign Declaration of Friendship (DoF), and sometimes not. What are the rules with DoF? In the current game I play, I have a friendly civ which has not denounced me, and where we have a trading relationship. Nevertheless, I do not have the option to sign DoF with that civilization.

Did you recently ask for a DoF or did you recently refuse a DoF request from them? That will cause the DoF request to be removed for some time.

I was wondering the same thing. In the current game I'm playing. Alexander was friendly, we did not have a Dof, and a DoF wasn't available. He attacked me a couple of turns later. Could that have anything to do with it?

General Tso, that's an intended feature.
He's being deceptively friendly to lull you into not building units. He doesn't want to DoF since I believe he incurs a diplo penalty with the other civs for attacking you during DoF. Edit: This is often a good way to tell if a civ intends to attack you. But really, you should already be able to judge this by the underlying factors once you've played enough games. |

I'd just assume it is a bug if bcaiko's solution is not true.
