That article was really obnoxious to read Quackers. It appears to suggest that managers ought to pay obeissance at the court of emperor footballers to get them to play for their country at a big tournment. If the bratch Scholes doesn't want to play for his country then the English coach should tell him to go eff himself (or have a very junoir deputy do it!). He's almost past it anyway.

Yeah, not sure if calling a 37 or 38 year old player that quit the NT, out of his own decision, almost a decade ago was the best way to revitalize the squad.
Interesting that Hodgson left Ferdinand out and is taking Terry. He obviously decided there was too much bad blood between the two, but personally I think Ferdinand is still the better player. I guess he thought Ferdinand won't make it for the next WC anyway, but it's not like Terry is one for the future either. Portugal also announced its squad 2 days ago. Probably the weakest team of the last 18 years or so. Good times are over. Still, the starting 11 can give anyone a good fight (though not all of those 11...). The problem is the bench. Virtually every position is an injury or suspension away from being a disaster.

Well with the announcement of the English squad, the weakest in years i'll be glad to see us qualify from our group.

I assume that the farther you go, the worse your humiliation will be. You're having me face a terrible choice. Wait, can't help myself, Ingerland should lose whenever possible.

![]() Ferdinand is out. Smalling is injured. And Scholes is back to... improve?... the team? ![]() And the Ukranian coach has apprently called in three keepers with the sum total on one (1) prior appearance in the national team between them. That's hardly going to spread confidence among Ukranian defenders...

The big question about the England sqaud has to be....why Stewart Downing? Seriously, WHY??!!!!
He's had a terriable season. Really terriable. It's strange how he gets into the England Squad the same day Kenny Dalglish is fired as well, given that his failure of a season contributed a large amount to that sacking! |

According to his Wikipedia he has managed 36 appearances in the premier league this season as a left-winger and scored an incredible 0 goals and made 0 assists. Just the player we need to service our forwards
They say Hodgson selects on statistics, ermmm?! With our squad in 2008 we had a chance, needed a bit of luck on our side and we could win it. Now i don't think that, i sincerely hope this is a "changing of the guard" phrae and by the WC we have a decent squad.

Can't believe he's been picked. And the thing as well is that if Parker drops out one of the stand in midfielders is Henderson!!!!

Had Germany fielded no defender, it would have made no difference. That's for sure.

I'm more upset that now every Swiss media will be content and nobody will feel like we need to do something. And then we will lose to Norway and Slovenia in September, when it counts again...
Because we can't really buy us anything with that win... For Germany on the other hand, it's a wake-up call right before the tournament. And it's earyl enough
