The government distracts us by making the roads so bad and the cars so expensive that we complain about those things in stead.

Yeah. I've always found their constant whining about petrol prices ridiculous. They have the cheapest fuel in the the developed world.

BTW, I am waiting what will happen to American suburbs/exurbs once petrol prices reach the levels common in Europe. Something tells me their 4-car-per-family lifestyle won't be that sustainable then...

US debt held by the public as a % of GDP, by year, party control of Congress, and party control of the Presidency. Kinda big (1621x763) so I've put it behind a spoiler.

Around 1.3 euros per litre here.
Now, did I mention the minimum wage is around 300 euros?

Nominal income growth expectations via the Michigan Survey of Consumers:

Interestingly, income expectations began to deteriorate sharply in 2003, well before the crisis.

Looks more like 2005 to me, but still interesting.

You mean taller than the last 5. And they probably didn't count the antenas or they ignored it because it is too ugly.

When will Germany learn that being a creditor to bums is NOT a good thing..?

Yeah, that's what I was talking about in another thread. The Target2 system means that a lot of debt is already collectivised as it is... Formalising that would make the system more stable, and less risky for Germany, because she knows what she'll get back in the event of default.

The problem is that it's an automatic system. There's nothing Germany can do directly do stop the process. And of course, there are no meaningful assets on the side of the debtors to back their liabilities. Target really is a crap system...

Btw, the Target balances for the NL, Finland and Luxembourg mimic the German balance. I hate it that the media always presents it as Germany vs. the rest.
