Prehistoric Units

Well after a frustrating session of trying to edit prehistoric units into a game I thought I would come and ask you seasoned experts on just how to do it properly. I managed only 1 unit after all my efforts.

Also is there anyone who knows if any prehistoric civilization Mods are out there for PTW?

Any help would be appreciated.

"Warrior" (the 1/1/1 unit) always struck me as somewhat prehistoric, with his feral roar and all

progess

Well I had such great progress at getting the prehistoric units into my custom sceanario that I've decided to create a "Dinotopia Sceanario".

The Eras work well for Civilization upgrades as well.
Triassic
Jurrasic
Cretaceous

I don't know how long it will take for me to create and round up the units needed. The biggest problem I see is air units. Pterandons might have been able to bring down a Biplane( a unit that should have never been skipped over I might add!!! ), but players might have a problem with them bringing down stealth units or a jet fighter.

The Torosaurus(Late Cretaceous version of the Triceratops) was a 10 ton beast, They could have crushed and flipped over Mech Infantry or Modern Armor. Smaller species could be scouts etc. Kinda makes you wonder why they never finished the Dino Sim doesn't it?

Anyway like I said the air units will be the hardest. Peteinosaurus would start out the Triassic era giving the dinos the first air units actually. Creating cityscapes won't be hard though I'm tossed on using mountains that continue to grow with size or start off with small nests first that move up to lairs that resemble small mountains or hills. It is perfectly believable that they can clear forests and jungles and have high attack and defense values. It is not believable that they need Stock markets or Cathedrals . It is perfectly believable that they would be the most pollution free civilization on the map, and that things like "Migration" could be considered advances that give the dinos the equivalent to say "Mapmaking", but it would be laughable to think that the dinos would have a use for resources such as rubber and coffee. Just what the world would need, raptors on caffeine!!

This is why the Dinotopia path is better I suppose. Humans pecefully co-exist with dinos in that world and would make better use of the civilization advances, city improvements, wonders etc....
Since this is still in the planning stages I'll avoid making an estimate on time and just ask you to wish me speed and good luck.

But still you have to wonder why they never finished the Dino sim. The ideas swimming around my head over the last 2 days would make one hell of a game for stragedy players. It's a shame they didn't finish that project. The material would be a fresh change from the norm. Well time for me to go, I have an army of Trexs stampeding towards the Mongol capital. I think Khan is ready to make a deal.

I'm just an incredible poster. You name a topic, I have an opinion on it. Need confusing and unclear one-liners? I'm your man.

Dinobarbs works for me too. It certainly added a level of excitement to the map. I would have liked a feature that shows the units to be intimidated by the dinos however. This what I hope to do actually. An Infantry unit would see a Rex and then run while saying something like, "for God's sake!!!!"
