Eprius and Byzantium are Greek Empires, and thus use Greek gods.

To: The Roman Empire
From: Your Allies in Armenia We understand you have converted back to your old ways. We, the Armenian people, have always been very tolerant. However, we hope that you will not treat us, your brothers and friends, as infidels because of this conversion. We await your reply.

Orders lock for revisions. I'll continue to accept new orders for some more time, so you stragglers out there get them in.

BEC NOIR! RUN!
|
To: The Kingdom of Armenia
From: The Kingdom of Sicily So, with the fall of Byzantium to the heathen old ways, it has come to this. We are the only bastions of Orthodoxy in this world now, and it will be to us to protect the true way of Christ. We should make our two nations closer together, and to further this goal, I offer the hand of my niece, Irene, in marriage to one of your family members.

To the Kingdoms of Sicily and Armenia
The Schism isn't too large yet. The Orthodoxy and the Catholic dogmas can still be reconciled if we give it a chance.

Yes, that is true. Reconciliation can be found, but there are still many barriers that exist between us. For the present moment, at least, we will tolerate you and allow Papists to conduct their business as if they were followers of the Patriarchate themselves. We both follow the teachings of Christ, after all.
------------- Meanwhile, years in the far future, a book is released: Chronicles of the Philipou Family, Chapter I: The Foundation of Sicily The Philipou family is one of the most influential, long-lived, and prosperous families of Italy. The earliest recorded Philipou was Alexandros Philipou, a merchant in Constantinople around 300 AD. Alexandros was quite prosperous, and he eventually joined government work. From there, his sons carried on the legacy of civil service in the Philipou line. When the Byzantine Empire reconquered Sicily after the barbarian invasions, the Philipous moved in to help establish order. By this time, the family was renowned and prestigious in many Greek-speaking areas. The family continued its dedicated service to the Empire in the new province, until 748, when the Muslims nearly conquered Sicily. It was Demostrate Philipou who incited the people of Sicily into open revolt and it was she that persuaded Nikolaos Valerius to join the cause as well. And when the armies stationed in Sicily threatened a crackdown, Leonidas Philipou was there to persuade the troops to join the side of the rebels. By 750, the state was fully independent, and the Philipou family gave many a hand to make it so. Naturally, they were rewarded with estates and titles, primarily taking residence around the city of Messina, though Demostrate chose to remain in Syracuse with the new king. Rumors that the king had taken a shining to her and intended to marry her abounded until 752. The rumors suddenly stopped in that year because they were proven to be true. Demostrate accepted his offer, and with that began the Philipou’s long involvement with the royal house of Sicily.

752- the Year which started the Provencial Campaign, Marriage of Philipou into the royal house of Sicily, and start of the construction of the Arsenal of Venice. A big year, indeed.

To: Kingdom of Sicily
From:Kingdom of Armenia Yet another of my sons will eagerly accept this marriage. To: The Honourable Leader of Aquitane From:Kingdom of Armenia Your words ring wisdom for a Catholic. Too often your kind is judgemental and foolish in your ways. I have heard tell of your other diplomatic endeavours, and find your leadership beneficial for all states. I believe continued peaceful relations between our nations would be helpful for both of us.

To the Kingdom of Armenia
From the Dukedom of Aquitaine Please, I pray to the lord, don't misspell the name which has been handed down from the time of the Romans. It is precious to me, one of the few of the shattered pieces of the Empire which remains in the west. I affirm the belief in peace between our peoples (although I do wonder how a war would be run in the first place) in body and spirit. If we are to be reunited, however much we mere lords elaborate, only the Pope has the final say in council with your surviving bishops.

From: Kingdom of Armenia We apologise for our inability to spell your national name correctly. We shall have my courier fined and fired for his inability to dictate my words correctly.

From Bernald Reginald III, Duke of Aquitaine
To Emir of Barcelona You, my... honorable opponent, control most of the Pyrenees passes through which any invasion of and by either side would most likely start. I would like to remind you of your defensive pact with half of Dar-al-Islam, which would not necessarily aid you in a war of aggression while my vassalage to the Frankish Empire would, especially if I go through the correct procedures. After that note, I would simply ask if your intentions are to continue the uneasy peace after our great victory at Tours.
