Free to Play Weekend on Steam
Didn't see a thread on this yet (no doubt one will be posted as I type this), but Civ V is free-to-play for this weekend on Steam. While I doubt there are many people on the board who haven't bought the game yet, for those few, now is the time to try it out.

And there's a 75% price reduction until monday. You can buy the base game for 7.49€.

DLCs have 75% price reduction, too. (Around 5 Euro for Babylonia, Korea, Inca, Spain, Denmark, Polynesia and Wonders-Pack together.)

The game with all the DLC's cost only 11,73€. Just remember to buy the Game of the Year edition for 9,99€ that is only missing the last two dlc's korea and wonders both 0,87€ a piece. So its cheaper than buying the game and all the dlc's separately.

Free playthrough this weekend?! (NOT G&K, only the base game)
This was posted a couple of minutes ago:
http://www.gaming-age.com/2012/05/ci...kend-on-steam/ "In addition to being free to play, if you decide to take the plunge and purchase the game, it’s being offered for 75% percent off this weekend as well." Seems like the free playthrough is starting TODAY! |

I'd think they'd want the G&K pre-order for Steam available for that.

That's for Civ V vanilla, not Gods and Kings. It's only to build hype for Gods and Kings. Even the 75% off deal is for the original game. I assume most of us already own and have played Civ V vanilla before.

"In order to get players pumped for the upcoming expansion to Civilization V dubbed Gods & Kings, Steam is offering the base game free to play for this weekend"
This would, of course, otherwise be too good to be true

It's a demo of Vanilla this weekend only.
I would have thought that they would have the G&K pre-order available to take advantage of it. That way they can say "You like this? Buy the game! Buy these DLC! Pre-order the Expansion too!" |

Yeah, I don't get the marketing game 2K is playing, it almost sounds like they don't want us to pre-order the game.

Never mind. This deal is great for people without CiV. The rest of us should be able to play a demo for GnK. How lame.

All the DLC is 75% off as well, for those of us who haven't bought them all yet.
