No. You didn't. But you did implicitly accept his conclusions. Still... fair enough

To be perfectly frank, I don't know why I have diabetes.
Actually, I asked what you think the cause of diabetes is. Obviously you don't know (and I give you credit for admitting that) so let me ask you another question. Why do you "know" that it isn't sugar/carbs?

I'm not overweight, I eat healthily, and I exercise regularly. I don't fit any of the criteria for the "Disease of Civilization" (sedentary lifestyle, high BMI and high fat/carb intake, causing further weight gain).
Where did you get the idea that these are the criteria? You do realize that it's impossible to eat a diet which is both low fat and low carb. You need some source of energy and protein doesn't do it. If you eat nothing but protein you will get sick. You haveta choose between carbs and fats. You need to decide which one of the two we were designed to eat.

The likely cause of my diabetes is delayed type 1, since my pancreas has sharply decreased its' capacity to produce insulin since my late 30's.
I've never heard of delayed type 1. Still... you should be interested in the story of Richard K. Bernstein who was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes at age 12 in 1948. In 1969, he had a life expectancy of about five years. He is still around today. His story is quite inspiring.

We've raised a generation of fat, lazy kids, that live on a diet of junk food and food additives. It's no bloody wonder that type 2 diabetes is on the rise.
No. I don't think that's quite the reason. There are other possibilities. If I was in your shoes, I would look into them.

And, Ms Diabetic, this is even more important - surely to you in particular. What does cause your disease? With all the letters after your name and all the things you claim to know, shouldn't this be the one thing you would want to know above all else? After all. Your life depends on the answer to the question. What is the cause of your disease?

Before answering that question, start by asking why it's called a "Disease of Civilisation".
Because "manufactured disease" didn't play so well with the focus groups.

I didn't accept anything. I made a stupid comment about a joke made about my original stupid joke. The study itself is rubbish, and I didn't even read it until you addressed my comments.

I admitted that I don't know why I have diabetes (and my doctor is scratching his head on this one, too.)

Before we continue and get a mod after us, why don't you state your relevant medical training and experience for us, please? If you're an M.D., or a diabetes research scientist, then I will happily defer to you since I am but a lowly former nurse, and have spent the majority of my nursing career in psychiatric medicine.

They arent my conclusions, its pretty much widely evidenced from multiple clinical trials that there is no correlation between sugar intake and diabetes.

If you believe that sugar intake contributes to diabetes, then can you explain why with evidence?

Well theres no reason to assume that there is based on there not being any supportive evidence of higher sugar / carbs intake causing diabetes.

Wow, it's amazing what an innocent comment about sugar and diabetes can do.

Eating habits and diabetes are both very, very touchy topics for a lot of people.

At the risk of derailing the topic even further:
Spoiler:

The earlier comment about "your body doesn't know the difference" is incorrect. Sugar / refined carbohydrates vs. complex carbohydrates both break down to glucose. However, they are NOT equivalent because complex carbohydrates take longer.

Here's a start I hadn't even dreamed about. Blimey!!

Spoiler:
The land beyond isn't so hot unfortunately, but a 4-gold start is just unreal. Corn accessible just outside settle in place big cross, so one might consider moving as well, though that will miss out on at least one gold - unless you settle on top of one.

Yay, Pangaea got my thread back on track!

Say, I was reading that in a Rothbardian free market, gold mines would effectively be mints and the owners would have the exact same power to mess up the value of money as fiat money central banks, except without any structures of public accountability...
