archer replacement
I have always tried to think of a good replacement for archers. The promotions for archers seem wasted when the upgrade to riflemen. Some have tried snipers. How about dudes with mortars. Okay make it happen modders I look forward to trying it out. no need to credit me.

I just read the details of the new features on some site today (don't remember which one) and it listed the "Machine Gunners" as "... one-hex ranged machine guns". So, I guess we get later game ranged infantry, but it goes down from two hexes to one hex.

Yah, I missed the longbow upgrade from Civ4. Longbows and xbows are nothing alike!

They should add skirmishers to go with musketmen. Light infantry that were faster then line infantry, and had a longer range. They get three movement, a range 1 ranged attack, and enough combat points to keep it from getting one-hit killed too easily.
I think I'm gonna mod it into the game if I can figure out how. |
