Most aggressive AI?

The replies on this post will probably contain spoilers for those of you who don't want to know the question in the title. But i would like to have a war like campaign, I usually play America and as Roosevelt. Can anyone tell me who are the most aggressive AI's I might encounter?

Also is there a way that i can somehow stop technology at a certain point? I,d like to play a campaign that's just stuck onthe ageof exploration era. I know it's somewhat counter intuitive to the game but just curious

Oh shoot i almost forgot two more questions. What happens after researchimg the last tech? It just keeps going adding +1 happiness and +1 health to all cities is that correct? Also if you continue to defie UN on nuke sanctions is the -1 happiness because the world looks at as as evil cumulative? Or is it just -1 and thats it?

Shaka, Monty, Ragnar, Alexander, Genghis, and Nappy are considered the psychos. There are a few others considered warmongers like Mehmed and JC.

Mehmed, Ragnar, Shaka and Napoleon have the highest UnitProb, meaning they build the most units.

Pretty much any leader with the Aggressive trait, with the exception of Hammy, tends to be more aggressive.

Watch out for folks like Sury and Cathy. Obviously, Toku can be problematic, but he can be easily handled as well.

There's no unmodded way to stop technology. I recommend checking the mod forums (C&C) for more info in that regard. There are several modpacks with altered tech trees.

Yes, each level of Future Tech adds +1happy and health.

Not sure on the Nuke issue since I rarely encounter it.

See the link in my sig. Leader characteristics. It shows Unit production, and on what relations a AI will plot war against you, as well as other useful things like religious zealotry and espionage tendencies.

Are you plotting an eternalwar campaign like the one that guy did with Civ 2 recently, that went to like 5000 AD or so?

Thanks I'll check it out and no I wasn't planning on making an eternal war just the last game played no one went to war at all I just won a cultural victory so I want to try against more aggressive leaders. I set it up on the world builder gave my self my own continent and we'll see how it goes.

You can also check the "Aggressive AI" box to make things more challanging.

Some people say that playing against AGG-AI is even easier, because they tech so bad / get confused by the setting which doesn't fit their usual style. Lymonds list is pretty good though, if you aim for a tough military victory.

It is like slavery; it is cumulative but temporary. It disappears after 20 turns on normal (unsure if it scales). The penalty is not -1 though; it is -5(!!). The resolutions can also come every 10 turns on normal (again unsure about scaling), making constant defiance very difficult (-10 unhappiness penalties) against someone determined to keep trying the same proposal (I actually think it is fair though, for without it what would stop everyone from defying the UN and make the wonder pointless). It should be mentioned that it can also come to a premature end if you agree with a UN measure that passes (I think this can wipe out the full -10, but maybe only -5, don't really know).

I've always found Tokugawa to be the biggest jerk to have as a neighbor. What is the easy way to deal with him, just out of curiosity? Surprised he's not on the list.

to the best of my knowledge, there is virtually no reasoning with him. even if you have the same religion it is near impossible to set up open borders or convince him to do anything with you. this is why toku is my second least favorite AI to be next to. he's like the only AI where being on an island with him is worse than isolation.

I'd still like to have him if I was on an island, just so that when I conquer him I'll have a second capital-quality city.

But you're right, he's the only one who wont even sign open borders. Even Montezuma, Shaka, and the other "crazies" will always do that even if they do back stab you soon afterwards.

Gift Toku a crappy city
He's useful with open borders, you should get those with +4 from fair trades and +1 for liberating.

I'm not sure how to stop it completely, but you could alter the cost of the later techs to such a level that they would be effectively unresearchable.

Which I'm sure would give you quite an edge over the AI as you're running your slider at 0 and the AI is still chasing the next tech.

I laugh at everyone for their confusion on Toku...He is so easier to get as an ally...

Just give him 10 gold as tribute the first time he ever appears in your game. This way he will not only be pleased, but if you gift him techs he also does NOT TRADE THEM due to his isolationist attitude. He is also a good war ally since he does have samurais....

I learned alot about diplomacy by trying my best to be friends with Toku...in fact I recommend anyone that is having trouble with diplomacy to be best friends with toku( ie gift him the kitcehn sink) and then whammo instant ally...plus it teaches you to be ready for the AI's stupid demands...

Anyway just remember Toku demands a tribute first and then every couple of hundred turns gift him some gold or whatever he wants....

i've tried giving him gold before and he's never even given me +1 diplo (at least i don't think he has) let alone allowed me to open borders with it.

i'll have to try gifting him cities though, never thought about that =O imperialistic might be my new favorite trait...

King Kalmah is right. This does work.
You can also make him happy when you join him in a war that he is in, when he asks. You get that, fighting a common enemy, relations bonus. You can even trade techs eventually. He just starts off stubborn and needs some buttering up first.

Aggressive AIs are Monty, Shaka, Ragnar, Tokugawa, Genghis Khan, Kublai Khan, Boudica, Alexander, Hammurabi and Stalin. These are the most aggresive AIs.
