Gods and Kings Steam Workshop & Achievements

Hi there,

I remember when Civ V first came out, if you ran the game with a mod enabled, you would not receive any new achievements.

Now that Steam Workshop is integrated with the game, has this changed?

It's a shame if not because I am discouraged from trying mods because I enjoy earning achievements!

Thanks.

I can confirm that you do not get achievements and also your final score does not feature in the in game Hall of Fame. This is still true even with the workshop.

I do find it quite annoying as I only currently use mods to change UI and graphics. I have finished 2 games and did not recieve the achievements that I would have got without mods.

It does seem odd that Steam has given de facto approval to the mods in the Workshop and yet it doesn't vet them for acceptability in getting achievements. That, to my mind, makes the Workshop a useless feature.

Indeed, I would like to be able to use the PerfectWorld and Tectonics map scripts and have the results count.

It doesn't suck, as far as I believe, yous till need to manually activate your mods, just like you used to before, all they took out is the Downloading part out of it.. did they not?

I assume you skim read this thread, lol...

Not getting achievements when mods are enabled is what sucks.

Steam Workshop is great.

No, it doesn't. It's a safety mechanism. Why should you get a Gold Prize for winning a game if the game could very easily be "modded" to give you that? See what I'm donig?

Of course, Firaxis already failed at this part (unless Workshop fixes it) with custom made scenarios that use the base data and scenario data, I've unlocked all base game achievements that related to some achievements, and most scenarios by shoving in GDR to the Korean scenario.

It's really up to Firaxis really, other games with mods and Steam Workshop support I have supports achievements with their custom content. Kinda silly restriction, as it's very easy to cheat the achievements within Steam if you really want to be lame and cheese it.
