Gods and Kings Do ranged horse unit's promotions convert upon "upgrade" to melee?

Ie when you upgrade horse archers to knights or keshiks to cavalary/tanks? I know that this wan't the case in vanilla, although the combat info screen still showed the promotion percentages. How about G&K?

Barrage and such still transfer over, but they have no affect as the unit ceases to use ranged attacks. I believe things like logistics and such that give multiple attacks per turn though still do work.

Pretty sure logistics does not, because melee units have blitz - a different promotion.

This used to bother me that a previously highly skilled unit when upgraded becomes worse and will be slow to gain new useful promotions because it's already a high level. But now I use them for times where some unit has to do something that will get them killed, so it might as well be one with a useless promotion.

An alternative is to get promotions that will transfer over and even be more useful. If you're going from chariot archer to a melee mounted unit, you could get cover which a ranged mounted unit can get but a melee mounted unit can't. Also march is a fourth tier promotion for a melee unit but it can be the second promotion a ranged unit gets.

So your options are to make them cannon fodder or you can plan ahead and pick useful crossover promotions.

I was just playing with Attila and all the harsh archers that upgraded to knights still had their Logistics and March promotions working just fine. However the bonus vs terrain type didn't.

It would be nice if the promotions converted to their melee equivalents. I was hoping they would fix this in G&K. Oh well, at least it only happens to a handfull of UUs thanks to the new archer upgrade line. It sucks for the Huns since both of their UUs are affected by this: HA's upgrade to knights, battering rams upgrade to trebuchets.

'Range' cannot be converted to melee promotion. Although I think that extra movement could be considered as equivalent. However, I wouldn't complain. Units that are clearly OP'ed in early game at least shouldn't stay as such for the whole of it.
