Civ II TOT purple civ bug?
Playing: Civ II TOT v1.1
sys: winxp I dunno if anyone else has had this problem but I cant seem to find it on the internet anywhere. I start a Original game in TOT(not extended) everything is normal. I save, then close the game. Here is where things go wrong. When I load up TOT to the game I was playing, the purple civ(indian, souix, or mongols) always become the centaurians(alien race in extended). When I start the game everything is normal, all the units are like everyone elses etc. But when I load the game up again after quitting, the purple civilization(which is pretty much always there no matter how few civs I start with) they convert to the alien race. I tried being the purple civ, and same thing happend. Is there a patch or fix somewhere? |

I would like an answer to this too, please. It doesn't always happen for me, but it's happened enough that I'm wondering what's wrong. And it is really damn annoying!

Where are you saving your games? Original games need to be saved in the Original folder.

For me, this problem doesn't involve the Original game because I don't play that with my ToT game. My issue is that it happens with the science fiction (Lalande) game. Having Marines show up on orbital platforms is jarring, to say the least.
As for saving... I hit "save" and trust the game to know where/how to do it. But it hasn't been working right lately.

Typically the game defaults to the folder that it was using previously. People who also have MGE installed (I gather you're not one of them) will find that the two games will run interference on each other WRT save location. Moving and renaming folders can also reset the default location. There maybe other factors external to the game. Step 1: pay attention to where you save your games rather than blindly hitting the Save button.
