Least Buggy Version of Civilization 3 (Single Player)

I was wanting to get back into Civilization 3 just for old time's sake, but I seem to recall some rather nasty unfixed bugs in C3C 1.22. I'm willing to go back to even more basic versions ( hell, that might just increase the nostalgia rush I'm after ) but I'm pretty OCD about gameplay bugs.

Which of the three versions of Civ3 (Vanilla, PTW, Conquests) is the least buggy when you use its final patch?

Well, the bugs that come to mind are:

- AI doesn't know how to use armies in Conquests. They do in PTW (although not necessarily as well as humans - still it's better than not at all).
- The sub bug. This is the one where you can accidentally trigger war by moving onto an (invisible) submarine. I've read that they fixed this in PTW and re-introduced it in Conquests, but I'm not sure about that, someone else would have to confirm. All I know for sure is it's still there in the latest version of Conquests.
- Scientific leaders don't actually give a science boost in Conquests. This doesn't affect PTW because PTW doesn't have scientific leaders. And you can still rush Wonders with scientific leaders in Conquests.

So, based on that, PTW or Vanilla are about equal I suppose. But there's probably people here who know more about the bugs than I do.

Appreciated.

I'm playing Vanilla for now. It's actually more appealing in some ways. If I wanted super feature creep then BTS is miles ahead of any version of Civ3 anyhow.

It's not my favorite version of Civilization and I don't think I'll still be messing with it a year from now, but it has still got an interesting style to it.

This thread points out the whole beauty of the Civ "franchise", and of this site; if you're no longer comfortable in your comfort zone, you have nearly-infinite choices in where to go next. Daunting at times (to me, at least). I've been playing 2 and 3 since 2001, but only discovered this website Sept. of last year. I can't believe I lived in such Civ-ignorance, but when you're happily-ignorant, you overlook things. What a tremendous wealth of information. I can't believe the amount of dedication & work that's gone into all of it. But I understand the love of it instantly.

BTS stands for "Beyond the Sword", the 2nd and largest expansion pack for Civ4. It added quite a few features over the standard vanilla Civ4 game, hence AlpsStranger's comment about "super feature creep."
