Isn't there a copyright issue here ? Can you use materials from other games without permission from the authors ? I don't think so...

As a personal rule, I try to stay away from anything watermarked or stamped with a logo, or trademark print more out of deference to the artist, than copywrite concerns. |

I guess he was asking about where the buildings came from.

Yes. You posted a screenshot of the industrial/modern but a file or a link. Thanks for starting this thread.
Ninna started a project covering most civ groups & eras. The building previews should be useful to someone. Since the material was posted here as an unfinished project permission shouldn't be a problem.

Why not? - they don't own the idea...they got it from somewhere.... I don't believe in the US type of thinking on the principles and theories of 'patterns' or copywrite ["copyrite"] ownership. Once every other persons ideas and designs were begged, borrowed or stolen by the US, they then decided "the pattern", they "had it", they now own it. [ It's just the "I have a Flag, so it's mine mentality" ]. ![]() I'm not US, not in the US, so it won't affect me. All ideas, designs and inventions come from previous 'concepts', which came from previous 'concepts', which come from previous 'concepts', ..., ... .

Moderator Action: The CFC servers are located in the US. That means that content is subject to all laws of the US. As are the CFC activities of any members. Prosecutable copyright violations include situations where there is no financial gain.
Many game companies are happy about fan-created content and unofficial mods. Some companies are very unhappy with it and go to the extent of prosecuting people who post screenshots. Properly crediting sources is the responsibility of the individual member. But it's likely owners & their legal representatives would contact CFC rather than the member. Fighting a copyright/trademark infringement case would put CFC out of business so quickly people wouldn't have time to set up a defense fund. So it's the policy of CFC to comply immediately with any "cease & desist" letters. Any further general discussion of intellectual property rights belongs in a different subforum. Please keep this thread to the topic discussed in the op.

I meant, can you provide a link to that "Source material?" That's certainly within the rules.
