Points/score: what's up with it?

Okay, the whole score system is starting to just really confuse me.

Score, as far as I'm aware, rests on five things, land, population, wonders, technology, and your military strength relative to others. The first four things are broken down and displayed when you mouse over your civs score in the display.

As an example, a game I'm playing, my civ has 57 points. I mouse over it, and it says I have 40 points from land, and 7 points from population. It's turn 71. So, I can only assume that the other ten points comes from my military...? Even though the other two civs I've met have larger ones than I do.

But that's not where it gets really confusing. How. On earth. Is it possible that after only 71 turns into the game, I have more than double the points of the next highest guy? How?! I went into world builder. We both have the same amount of tiles under our borders, so same land. We both have one population. We both have built no wonders. He has a larger military than I. The only thing I can't directly see is his techs. But seeing as how it's only turn 71, and I've only researched a grand total of ten techs, which the game says isn't giving me points anyways, there's absolutely NO way that the 31 point difference between his 26 and my 57 can be accounted for from that. Right...?

What is going on? I had thought the AI was just a poor player at the game that I could constantly more than double its score, but after just 71 turns...just...how? Is it a bug? What? It boggles my mind. Why am I getting forty points for my land, when he is obviously not, even though ours are equal?

It's on noble difficulty, too.

Some of the score is based on Tech achievements. If you watch closely, your score goes up on turns you get a new tech.

I do know that. But why would it not be reflected in the breakdown? And like I said, as U an sure I would have at most two techs above the 26 guy, there is no way my tech superiority is the reason.

Does no one else find this to be as serious an issue as I do?

Currently, it's turn 120, and on the scoreboard to the right, it says I have 64 points compared to the next highest's 44. But, on the breakdown, at the bottom, it gives the much more reasonable "Total score, 47 points".

What is going on? I really think this needs to be addressed.

try to put this in the bugs thread also don't worry I find this to be a pretty annoying and big issue
