Unit Preview: Early Euro Spearman

I guess this would be a precursor to Utahjazz's European Spearman. The blue shirt would be civ-specific and I'll probably make the green design on his shield ci-colored as well... Any other suggestions?

One note I realize his helmet looks slightly Assyrian (it's actually a persian helmet model) I tried to edit it to look more like a normal cone shaped European model but ran into multiple problems... However in the civ sized version you can't really tell and I think it looks fine.

Wow, very cool, Kinboat. You can't really tell the helmet thing in the Civ size model.

nice that's a great cape too

I like the idea of making the green circle a civ-color along with the shirt; will you be able to see the civ-colors from behind though?

I agree that it's looking nice!
Maybe it would be possible to model it so that you see the shield from behind, at least in the default flic? Or maybe put a civ-coloured design on the back, like the edge of the cape, or something?

....or maybe civ coloured wristbands, like the Hoplite has, and make sure that his right arm can be seen from behind as he holds the spear in the default position?
(It would be small....but better than nothing)

Lovely figure by the way.....as usual.

Maybe some sort of colored fringe on his spear? That would be visible from the back but would it look half decent? I think a flag wouldn't really fit into the iron age period... Maybe I'll try a band on the bottom of the cape.

Excellent work Kinboat.
The Spearman is good as he now is.
Can't remember that early european Spearman had fringes at the spears.
But you should maybe give the shild some ornaments or something like this. That was typical for european warriors at this time. The shild had a high value for the honor of a warrior. When some lost his shild in battle then it was common that he does suicide to rid his from the disgrace of losing his shild.

Awsome. I agree about changing the shield design to use civ colors. I wouldn't mess with the cloak. If anything, make a civ colored strip around the bottom of his helmet, or even his whole helmet. or, make his shin guards civ colored, you should be able to see that from behind.

very cool, Kinboat. I am glad you are giving a preview. It seems like you have recently been just posting completed units without previews. While I love most of the units, its always nice to let the community have a peak. Sometimes we can give valuable feedback and suggestions.
