As we all know, the AI player can surprise us with some unpredictable moves. There's one in particular I want to share though...
Have you ever noticed, on occasion, that the AI player sometimes builds a new city only a few squares away from a barbarian camp? Sure, this can happen if you build somewhere near undiscovered terrain, but when I last saw this happen, I'd already uncovered the continent I was sharing with an AI, and traded world maps. A move such as this makes it look like they want their cities to be raided. Tsk tsk. Silly AI.

Probably because of the AI's exploration algorithms. It probably figures that there's a resource there, too. There's quite a few things factoring into where the AI builds, even if there's a barb camp in the way.

What is silly about that. I have done it as well. And then rush a temple and in ten turns. boom, barb hut is gone
Edit: Also, the barbs always go for the Human player over the AI anyway. (disclaimer. this is a joke. In no way is the poster insinuating that the barbs act differently towards the Human than they do towards the AI) |

If I've got a Spearman along, I'm perfectly happy to settle next to an active tribes camp. The camp will go way and the Barbarian Warrior is almost certain to lose against my fortified Spearman. Except, of course, that in PTW it's just as likely to run away in fear.
If I end up next to one with an unprotected Settler, I might settle the Settler immediately, since having a city plundered by Barbarians is much preferable to having a Settler taken by them.
