Each week we feature a mod made by one of our members on our Facebook page. You can submit your mod for consideration in the Creation & Customization forums for Civ5, Civ4 or Civ3. June saw 4 Mods of the Week, from XI to XIV.


Mod of the Week XI - Religion and Revolution for Civ4: Colonization, by raystuttgart and Robert Surcouf.

Religion and Revolution is a huge mod for "Sid Meier's Civilization IV: Colonization" developed over a number of years by an international team of passionate modders. The mod features many original features, but also adapts many interesting features from throughout the modding community. In fact, the original idea behind the mod was to try compiling the best work of the community in one single gigantic mod.

Today it is still the largest overhaul mod that exist for Civ4: Colonization and new releases are still published regularly. A lot of attention has been paid to all areas of modding, with coding, graphics, sounds, music, texts, translations and all other aspects of the mod always developed with quality in mind. The aim has been to ensure stability, performance, authenticity and good gameplay in each single release.

Mod of the Week XII - The Medmod VI for Civ5 Brave New World, by WesW.

The Medmod VI for BNW is a comprehensive balancing/editing mod which seeks to improve AI performance, game-flow and overall balance, as well as expand the existing unit line-up. (Gods and Kings and the Spanish DLC are required.)

Here are just some of the mods main features:

AI development and behavior- Settings for roads, land and city development have been set to high.

Warmonger hatred has been set to 2.

The AI to builds more armor units instead of anti-aircraft units.

Up to three units may now be stacked on the same tile.

Eight new unit classes have been added to the game.

Flood Plains now give an extra food, and Forests give +1 prod and -1 food.

Improving resources now gives a Base 2 bonus.

Towns (Kasbahs) are a new type of tile improvement added to the game.

The cost of purchasing units and buildings has been reduced by about a third.

Lighthouses now add 2 food to Lake tiles, and can be built in any city.

Observatories can be built in cities 2 spaces away from mountains.

Colosseums and Zoos give 3 happiness, while Stadiums give 4.

For National Wonders, the required number of buildings has been changed from "all cities" to between 4 and 6.

The Ivy League is a new National Wonder that adds 1 point of output to all Specialists.

Tech costs have been increased significantly.

Mod of the Week XIII - The Sami, for Civ5, by Sukritact and More Civilizations.

This mod adds the indigenous people of Northern Europe, the Sami, to the game. Led by the haunting Eadni, the Sami are a unique civilization geared at not only surviving but thriving in the tundra and snowy wastelands of the earth, gaining bonuses to food and land when their cities are founded upon snow or tundra. With their unique Boazovázzi scout replacement, the Sami become masters of hunting; able to consume animal resources such as Deer for a boost of Food and Production to the nearest city. But they are not only a civilization designed for growth - but one of spirit, too. With their unique Temple, the Seidi, the Sami can erect monuments of faith and culture around their cities, earning them a competitive place in the race for religion.

Mod of Week XIV - Orion's Grand Inquisition (OGI) for Civ4 BtS, by OrionVeteran.

This mod is designed to provide a rich variety of strategic choice and enjoyment for all. You will find many game play capabilities that take Civilization 4 to a whole new level of fun. You can get Multiple traits, experience Mine Warfare, create Combined forces, plant crops and breed animals. Limit religions, conduct inquisitions and migrate population. Terraform plots, utilize mountains and encounter dangerous animals. Utilize new city specialists, contemplate new Civics and research the end game super techs. Build countless new units, buildings and wonders. Conduct ranged attacks and execute piracy raids against enemy merchant ships conducting foreign trade missions. Bribe other civs with diplomats and launch cyber warfare attacks with Cyber hackers. Open shipping lanes with ice breakers. Conduct suicide attacks with assassin units.
