The Civilization IV Hall of Fame has been updated. 42 games were accepted since the previous update.

Congratulations to NobleZarkon for the highest score of the update with a Tiny, Marathon, Emperor, Domination game for 543909 points.

Sgtpeppers was the most active player during this update, submitting 16 games.

Only 3 players were brave enough to take on Deity this update:

Thanks :) In just over a month have taken my personal best score from 226k to 500k+!! Finally seem to have put everything I have learned here together - what an awesome Forum this is full of people generously willing to share their knowledge.

Here's another game that deserves special attention.
Sure, Stgpeppers' 2300BC marathon game sounds better (it is very good), but 1540 BC on quick is quite an accomplishment. That only 41 turns! In that time, you have tech to Theology, build the AP, and all while getting an AI to like you enough to vote for you.

A bit of extra free time and a rekindling of interest in Civ IV and look what happens. :)

Next month i'm looking at gaining my first Deity spot. Much like elitetroops and his solid Diplomatic win.
 
Heh, that was actually my first Deity win ever. Thanks goes to WastinTime for his writeup on deity OCC diplo games and to the extremely generous map generator. It felt like cheating when I saw that start with 4x gems, 2x dye, corn and phants... :crazyeye: Didn't even run mapfinder very long..

Did a lot of mistakes that game, I'm sure a better player could have shaved 100 years of the date easily with that start. But I also learned from the mistakes, hopefully bringing me closer to one day winning a real deity game, not just a cheesy OCC diplo game with a ridonkulous start.

And congrats to you for all those strong religious games! Seems you were practicing hard for the new G-minor. ;)

I'm not sure how cheesy a Diplomatic game can be. Compared to Inca rushes and Religious games I think it's a fair win.
Would you be able to post a link to the writeup? I've searched high and low for something like this.


I've already submitted a game for the new G-Minor :) Just waiting to see if it's accepted before posting in the thread.
 
thx for the link. I forgot about that writeup.

That explains why I thought FIN was so important. I was trying to get early tech speed for an Oracle slingshot. If you ignore the Oracle, you can drop FIN.

Also explains Vicky. I was trying all the FIN leaders. I wanted her for +3 health.

SPI was very important on quick speed.
PHI would have to pay off better than anything else in the long run. Gandhi it is!

Maybe Liz on slower speeds.
 
Yeah, I think FIN fooled me into focusing too much on cottages. 4 riverside gems+2 dye would probably have been enough commerce, should have thrown in more farms for specialists. Made very poor use of the PHI trait in my game.

Mansa oracled CoL and bulbed philo very early. I could trade for CoL with no beakers invested, which was nice, but couldn't have beaten him to Philo unless I had used my first GS for bulbing instead of an academy. I ended up bulbing it anyway as nobody else had it and he wouldn't trade it by the time I was ready to go for lib.

If I try another one of these, I'll use Gandhi. Probably normal speed.
 
Congratz to Elitetroops and kovacsflo for their Deity #1s!

I'm btw back for the moment because Elder Scrolls Online is currently a joke against a good game like CIV. Won't be as active as you know me in the forums because of studies and trying to beat one of those Ironhead Space Races but Warlords AI is currently giving me a hard time.

Any Major Deity Gauntlet appreciatet.
