Information & rules:

Spoiler :
All games in this series will be set to IMMORTAL difficulty. User civilizations, maps, and opponents will change each game, but the pace will always be set at standard and the starting era will always be ancient. We will try for a variety of starts, and not just having a crazy warmonger as your next door neighbor (although there will be that too). This isn't a competition so there will be no predefined victory conditions. New challenges in the series will be posted every other Wednesday.

Who can play?
Anybody can play. The more the merrier. Even if you normally don't play immortal games you are still welcome to try. The games can become great learning resources for the player trying to improve. Even if you don't finish the game, we are still interested to hear about your experience.

Do's and Don'ts
We are going to be using the honor system. Feel free to restart, reload, play the same game multiple times, but don't use the science overflow exploit. Also please don't edit the game in IGE. If you do chose to cheat, please don't share your results in the comments. Also, please use the spoiler tag if you post a picture, comment about neighboring civs, close by wonders, or locations of ancient ruins.

Also, please tell us about your Build Order, Social Policies, Tech Order, and what type of wonders you went after. I know a lot of this stuff seems pretty mundane to the experienced player, but the details are incredibly useful to people trying to learn.

Future Games in the Series
I want users to submit saves from turn 0. Preferably the person submitting the game has played enough turns to know the map is either difficult, fun, or unique in some enjoyable way. Write a short description as to why it is special and email the save to immortalchallengelineup@gmail.com

Important
If you submit a game for the challenge, you must have the DLC map packs disabled. Not everybody has them and they are honestly kind of useless. Having them disabled will allow more participants.

All results gets documented in a spreadsheet by Consentient. To help him with his work, please use this headline tXXX victory-type in your finishing post. Example: t210 DV

looks like the guy submited the map with an unusual DLC.
"downloadable content not available"

is there a way to know which one it is?

edit : found it : scrambled continents and nations.

The announcement post says map packs are required DLC. That presumably includes the scrambled map packs, which are not in Civ 5 Complete.

ho yes, i got it.
Now i understand why host asks for map packs disabled when submitting maps ^^

To be perfectly honest, I had no idea it was enabled. Give me some time and I'll either fix it or create a different but very similar map. Sorry, all

The majority of people doesn't have the map packs actually. I really hate Firaxis for that, they should give that stuff for free by now.

Oh well. Another map is ready, so Rex can replace it in the OP. Sorry again, guys

New map uploaded!

(I recommend all civ-lovers to buy the map-packs though. Some of my favorite map-scripts are in there! Sandstorm ftw!)

Special award to whoever figures out the 4 major things I tweaked on the map :)

Spoiler :
Well there seem to be an absurd amount of luxuries around, which is nice, but not necessarily your work.

Also, all wonders are being taken 30-40% earlier than usual, so there are some kinds of advantages for the AI.

T119 Looking good

Spoiler :
But Monty seems to have missed out on all the advantages, and after a long, deliberate siege, I've taken his capital and will leave him with only 1 city from 6.

Filled Honor T94, NC T91, took GW for 1st Baktun, used him to accelerate into Commerce. Built Oracle and used it for Wagon Trains, so we're speeding through Commerce this game. Machinery coming real soon and then the slaughter will accelerate.

Yes, on the right track :) not the luxuries though, that's game being game

you may not spot all with the way your game is shaping up. I'll PM you when you finish, if you're curious ;)

t86
Spoiler :
Well, I've already discovered that both Iroq and USA have LV! Monte didn't have it, and apparently paid the price. :D Took his cap t50 doing a 5 Atlatlist rush. I screwed up by taking a peace deal, I saw I could get another Worker with a nearly dead Scout - then I stupidly deleted the Worker because I was over the unit limit. So I have just been building for 35+ turns, just a few barb hunts. 17t from finishing Honor, opened with Tradition.

USA snuck a city just ahead of my 1st expo choice, I still got most tiles I wanted by buying them. T80ish NC. Everybody has a Trad/Liberty mix going, weird. I may just build SoZ soon. I don't have nearly enough units, and my science sucks. The early rush is always fun, but I should have probably built more cheap Atlatlists while I had the chance.

Got 2nd religion with Tithe and Pagodas, Pantheon culture from Plantations. Nobody going Piety - still haven't met someone though.

Ah, it's unraveling :D

Since it's been shown:
Spoiler :

Monty was gifted some salt to try and speed up his early game, didn't help much

Nothing could help Monty with The BloodThirsty One next door ;)

I took care of that in the previous (with map packs) pack, where I walled him off with a long mountain range, allowing only a tiny choke point

Budweiser's Exploration comment in the England DC thread made me think about a mild variant I've been wanting to do for a while: mostly peaceful CV with no wonders or sacred sites. The idea is that it forces slightly wider play with a focus on artifacts.

Mayan wonderless CV to turn 100
Spoiler :

So I stole a worker from Monty and the Aztec maniac refused to make peace for 50 turns or so but sent plenty of units my way. Awkward start.

Playing the Mayans is like playing a mod: I've got to fit in these Pyramids and hit up an early-ish Theology (t79). Opened 5 city Liberty unintentionally forward settling Hiawatha.

Beakers are plentiful but I am seriously short of hammers. Education is not very useful if I can't build any universities.

First Long Count spawn got turned into an Academy. Next will either spread or enhance my religion.

Also, I've found a 2nd Lake Victoria. Are there more around, I wonder?
