A Simple but good Mod
All I want is a mod that makes the advanced units less likely to be killed by less advanced units. Maybe addditional techs at teh end of the game but nothing fancy or big names changes to the game.. which mod would be best for this?

Just mod each of the higher tech units to have an extra hit point than the previous era. It shouldn't take more than a few minutes.

An alternative is to increase HP across the board (Conscript 4, Regular 6, Veteran 8, Elite 10, f'rinstance). This makes combat generally more predictable, decreasing the likelihood of unexpected combat results.
