Don't be afraid to spend money MB - we've got a lot

You'll need to send some workers over to the New World to get things hooked up

I've played half the turns. Had no arty in the new world so I gave up the war when I got to London. Got the Spices though. Used the leader for an army so we are building the Pentagon. I'm ferrying workers overseas like billy-oh and everything appears to be going to plan. Lots of airports and tanks being built.

Might take out the Romans for a leader. The UN is on a Palace pre-build BTW.

The sooner we can start joining in workers the better.

Yeah,

I thought we should stop warring the English at some point soon. Any idea who the other party (or parties) in the vote will be?

Good news on the Spices though

How time flies... It's no that long ago we were trying to decide whether or not to jump the Palace

We had 4 arty in England
We now have 74 (I've been told a million times not to exaggerate). We have a lot though.

The Babylonians will be the second nominee, though we won't be holding a vote any time soon. So that may change.

Currently pollution is running at around 3 tiles per turn. So we will need around 30 slaves on the mainland IMHO. 4 turn research on radio leaves us with 350gpt NET.

It's all good news really.

turnlog to 1585AD

1535AD: Pre-turn.
War weariness is indeed a problem. I hired a number of clowns in unproductive cities and rushed a lot of markets. But I don't think continuing this war is very cost effective.
Moved some units into Pisae ready for transportation.
The leader I will save for an army once Shanghai has completed it's current build.

1540AD:
Capture Warwick without loss.
Send some Cavalry to Leeds, but it's too far to attack on same turn. It's best defender is a regular spear, so I'm kinda hopeful as to the possible outcome. Start to set up a transport chain through the former Rome, But we'll have airports b4 it's useful. We can send some workers over there using it though.

1545AD:
Capture Leeds which had contrivede to find a vet cavalry from somewhere, with the loss of 3 cavalry.
Capture Hastings (which has no right to be that far inland anyway) for the loss of one Cavalry. This brings spices on-line. So I turn both sliders down. Tanks next turn
I suppose I could just take London and then call it a day.
Ooh Oxford has muskets. Whoop-de-do.

IBT:
Learn Mech Transport - Research flight in 4 turns.

1550AD:
Switch a lot of production to guess what. It begins with a T. (and it doesn't float).
Capture Oxford with the loss of 3 cavalry.
London has Vet infantry. Wish I had some Arty now.

IBT:
Egyptians want MPP and ROP. Not at the moment thanks all the same.

1555AD:
Ship another 16 workers to Rome. From there to England shortly.
Took Newcastle with the loss of 1 Cav. Got 4 elites in battle. Nice.
Attacking London with our elite cavs would be suicide, so I don't. The time will come
Second level War Weariness Kicks in. I will not be able to get Arty to London in time b4 we descend into anarchy.
Think about it for a while, and give straight peace. We can play with tanks soon. Don't worry.

IBT:
French want ROP and MPP. Soon Joan. Just be patient.
Sell wines to Ganghi and Joan for a bar bill.
Get Kicked out of England.
Complete intelligence agency in Beijing
Complete army in Shanghai.

1560AD:
Nothing happened. Just concentrated on getting units to England.
Also ship the army and some tanks to Rome.
Hurry army in shanghai with leader
Beijing on Pre-build for UN.

IBT:
Lose our incense. Against my better judgement I sell combustion to Babylon for Incense + 136gpt + all their 26g. Our next war will be against Rome anyway.

1565AD:
Decide to wipe out Rome on the pre-text of getting another leader.
Position troops.
A big stack of units is fortified on a mountain north of Leeds.

IBT:
Learn Flight - research Radio in 4.

1570AD:
Declare war on Rome. Did it nicely so I can't attack this turn - too far away.

1575AD:
Capture Pompeii. No losses.
Skirmishes with tanks give another GL. New thing I learned recently. If you win two battles in one turn with the same unit it is garanteed a promotion. Using tanks on obsolete units allows you to upgrade your entire army to elite for free.
Unfortunately Caesars cities are too far apart to finish him this turn.

1580AD:
Capture Lutitia for the loss of one tank.
Do a little housekeeping. Will start to join in native workers next turn.

1585AD:
Capture Byzantium. Rome is no more.

All our workers are in Boston.
Radio is up this turn, and we can research fission next. The palace pre-build has 9 turns left. We need to decide which year we are going to end the game b4 we can build the UN i guess, unless we just delay the 20K cities by selling stuff off.
WE have a couple of airports in England, but I havent built any in Rome as they are no good for transporting workers. There are a lot of workers in Rome that can go to England any time soon. There are plenty of transports shuttling back and forth between Rome and England. I got bored with the "pass the bucket" type transportation. Sorry.

The whole world is at peace.

Some nice pictures.

The <<save>>.

Got it right eventually after about 117 edits.

P.S. Remember there is a big stack of arty on the mountain north of Leeds. I didn't put them in a town for the obvious reason.

The easy part is over (winning). Now comes the timing of UN vote, 100K, 20 double K, and spaceship.....

Andvruss: good point, let's do some math. Knowing TJ, he's a PLAN already. Well, Ted, am I right?

It's going to be a bit difficult. The Modern age wonders will actually make a difference to the 20K dates because we'll get them a long time before we finish. Personally I would just build the UN as soon as we can and then just delay the 20K cities to coincide with a vote. Anything else would be a guess, and if we guess we'll definitely be wrong. (Murphy's law, Section C, subparagraph 4b )

By delaying you don't mean... shutting down buildings ... do you?
I hope not, that would require some serious alterations on the sheet. Knowing also subparagraph 4c of the law mentioned, this will mean the cities will not trigger on the date in the sheet...

One more thing Ted.

The stack of units on the Mountain north of Leeds needs roading and railing, otherwise it'll cost you a turn to get them off it.
Oh, and also there are quite a few tanks on the mainland that can be airlifted to England.

I'm kind of getting the itch to play this to an "Every possible victory condition" finish.....

Having had a look at the save we have the following ongoing deals:
Egypt 13 turns
India 14 turns
France 14 turns
England 14 turns
Babylon 16 turns

However a little judicious Spy planting might change that

Research Plan
Computers - SETI (3cpt) - bonus MI
Fission - UN (4cpt) & Manhattan (2cpt) (Uranium)
Rocketry (Aluminium)
Ecology
Synth Fibres - SS Exterior, SS Stasis , SS Storage - Bonus MA
Space Flight - Apollo (2cpt), SS Cockpit, SS Docking, SS Engine - Bonus Tactical Nukes
Superconductor - SS Fuel, SS Life
Satellites - SS Thrusters - Bonus ICBM
Minituarisation
Genetics - Cure for Cancer (3cpt), Longevity (3cpt)
Robotics - bonus RA

Just my idea for our last research period. I can't really predict which Wonders to build where but generally we still need to close the gap between Shanghai & Bejing (there's still a 500 point difference.

I'll play tomorrow so any comments or suggestions welcome.
