Informational: Would you favor a declaration of war against Egypt in the near future?

This is a poll to determine if the people would favor war against Egypt relatively soon, in an aggressive fashion as proposed in this discussion thread. This poll will be open for 48 hours.

Absolutely!

I am in favor of a limited war againt Egypt, targetting only those cities near New Jedina and capable of utilizing the benefit of the FP.

I'm for it. It is these kinds of things that makes the game really interesting.

I am for annexing all of Egypt - by gunpoint if necessary :soldier:

I also voted Yes. It's time to make this game interesting and gain some cities while we're at it!

I have voted no. If we are to be builders vying for the stars we should stay the course and not get distracted by a *limited* war that may get ugly...

et tu, donsig?

I voted yes.

If we wait until our troops are ready, we can start and end the campaign within 5-7 turns. We just have to pledge not to get anyone else involved.

We need those cities around New Jedina.

If we do it properly and dont rush into it, it wont get ugly. My concern is that some people may get carried away and try to start things before we have enough troops. It should take a maximum of 4 turns to capture 5 cities and with them garrisoned properly we can withstand any counter attack until the Egyptians sue for peace.

I will tentatively vote yes, but my support will be rapidly withdrawn if I do not think we are planning on taking sufficient precautions to keep the other AI civs from joining in against us, or if I think we're planning to go to war without sufficient troops or well thought out battle plans.

If we do this, we need to do it properly. None of the half-arsed "planning" that characterised our previous egyptian war.

I share your concerns about the half arsed way things have been done in the past. The current plans under consideration are cautious and well thought out.

Yes, I would not favor a war until we had enough troops to carry the day. 30 knights or preferably cavalry supported by about 10 musketmen should be able to do the job, but no less.

Come on, gentlemen. Certainly it is much easier to wage a "whole-arsed" effort when it is waged on our terms. Seeing that I presided over that most unfortunate time, I will try not to take offense at the clarity of hindsight displayed in these posts.

Without reliving it all over again, I believe that the Term 2 administration did the best it could with the situation that it inherited. Against my wishes, the war continued and when the dust settled we got to hold onto Memphis, thanks to quick cultural planning(and pure luck). Without this small victory, the People's Campaign to Justify the Loss of Our Golden Age would have been an utter failure.

Now we get to use this city as a possible strike point to finish Egypt off for good. And this administration will have plenty of time to do it right, unless something goes wrong. Sound familiar?

So, if Cleo comes a-callin' to demand a tech while we are still raising our troops, let's give her what she wants. She won't be able to use it for long.

Considering you did not lead us into that war I don't know how you could take offence. However if we don't learn from our mistakes then we are doing something wrong. Giving in to Cleo is certainly the sensible option at the moment.
