Unofficial SOTD
In a recent game I had pushed the English back to a crappy island at the northwest tip of our 'once shared' continent. Later on in the game when I had some cash to blow, I took a look at their 'new' capitol. I was surprised to see that both their palace and forbidden palace were located there. The FP even generates more CPT because it was there longer.....
just scroll down

That's funky. Is there a specific problem you have with this, or did you just think it was weird?

No problem with it......I just thought it was something you would rarely see in the game so I posted it.

It is interesting.
It is a waste of resources for the English, though. That FP should be somewhere else.

It isn't because England is stupid and built the FP in the same city as their capital. It's becasue the old capital was captured and the capital was changed to the next best (sometimes best) city. This city happened to have the Forbidden Palace in it. There's really nothing the AI could do about it at the moment. Most people would move the capital as soon as possible, but the AI isn't as smart as most people.

It *is* weird the FP got built on that island... show why you should NEVER let the governour take over production.

I've had the palace and the FP in the same city, too. Very annoying it was. (It wasn't supposed to be that way, obviously). I should have a screenshot of it somewhere.

[pedantic]The forbidden palace generates 2 cpt from the start, so you can't really say it's been in the city longer because it generates more culture, though that is obviously the case. Now if it were generating 4 culture and the palace 1, then you could say that.[/pedantic]

Hehe... I got an idea: you could use it for an advantage when trying t get a 20k win. Very easy and nice, so easy to organize...
And all that for only perhaps 1cpt...

The very first time I built the FP, I didn't care to check out its actual effect before building it, so of course I built it in my capital ...

Was this a bug in the earlier game? I don't think you build the FP in your capital. At least not in my version (PTW, latest patch). I don't know, I never tried to build it in my capital before so it could be possible. I don't pay much attention to the building options. I just go straight for what I want.

Awesome... Waste of resource's, but still cool. I don't think it makes a huge differance though... if the english are just those 4 cities... then corruption is not that bad for them.

They could have started it there before the palace was moved, and when it was finished, the palace could have already been there.

Of course, if the game treated the Forbidden Palace as an 'emergency second capital' - as might be more 'reasonable' - then what would happen is that n losing your capital city, the government would relocate to the FP city - not some other, but bigger, city - and the FP would become your Palace.
People without an FP would perhaps suffer anarchy or something for a while to show the dislocation of administration. Then you'd have to build the FP again, somewhere else. But since buildings can't convert to other building AFAIK, thats not going to happen, even in a mod.
