Diplomacy screen with >7 players

So I started my first game with 16 players. Me and 15 dumber-than-dirt AI's. As soon as I'd met more than 6 of them, I noticed something which has become _extremely_ aggravating. The Diplomacy screen will not show more than 6 of the other civs, and always the same 6. So now I'm sitting here, I have no idea if I'm still at war with the Babylonians, and even though I have an embassy with them, I can't talk to them because there don't happen to be any of their units visible right now. I certainly can't see who they're at war with. And this goes for 9 of the 15 AI's.

Is there some keyboard shortcut or setting or something that I'm missing? Because this strikes me as an unbelievably hideous oversight in testing. I haven't been able to find any previous mention of this on this forum.

Also, is it at all possible to remove units from an army after they've joined?

No you can not remove units from an army after they'd been joined.

Also, In the bottom right hand cornor (next to where it shows all of your gold) there are several little buttons on them. (D, E, P, S, and H) If you click on the D it will pop-up a "diplomacy" screen that shows ALL of the civs and wether your at peace or war with them. You also just have to double-click on one of there names and it lets you talk to them.

You can change the army members if you can put the Army in one of your cities. You can load an reload there.

In addition, you can switch out which 7 are active at any time using a shift-right click on the leaderhead (on the F4 display). If you have PTW, there is a button that does the same thing. Is this cumbersome? Yes, IMNSHO it is and I've told Firaxis about it many, many times (I'll fix it for ya).

I always use the little 'D' button previously mentioned.

The Army bug has been fixed on the version I'm playing, but older patches had a bug that allowed you unload units from an Army.

Plus you can always just hit "shift d" to bring up diplomacy.

Do you really have a mod to change the foreign advisor interface warpstorm??

Strider: Thanks, that worked. Of course, I can't tell who's at war with whom...

Superevie: How's that work, exactly?

warpstorm: Wait a sec. They took the ability to modify armies _out_? What in god's name for? Is there any point whatsoever in forbidding me from so much as upgrading the units in them?

I've been a Civ fan for as long as it's been around, but I'm beginning to wonder if Firaxis actually bothered to play test this thing.

The ability to upgrade armies was taken out. Its way too powerful if you can upgrade units you put into armies, or sub them in & out whenever you want.

If you hold shift when you click on each leaders face(on teh foreign advisor screen) it will "toggle" that leader & leave all others already selected as well. This allows you to check out up to 7 leaders relationships with each other all at once in a cool spider pattern.

Hey,

Well, if you want to upgrade the units in your army, first move your army into one of your cities that also must have barracks. There will be a button that says "unload" on the bottom part of your screen. Unload all of your units and "hold" the army there with the space bar for a turn. Then, on your next turn, you'll have each of the three members of the army selected one after the other and just hit "U" (shift + U if you have other units of the same time sitting in cities with barracks). It will upgrade for a certain amount of gold. On the next turn (upgrading takes a turn) just hit the "load" button on the bottom of your screen when the units you upgraded are selected again. Simple enough? Upgrading an army takes several turns, but taking that time is better than losing your army in combat due to weak units.

Yes, they took it out. It was a bug and they didn't want it. It made armies too powerful. In addition, since it was a bug the AI wouldn't know to do this making them even weaker than they already were.
