Naming Similarities & "Subway" Serieses

I was trying to think of as many name similarites and subway series as possible. Here are a few starters:

All the teams in Atlanta other then the Braves are named after birds (hawks, falcons, thrashers).

Baseball:
Mets-Yankees
White Sox-Cubs
Athletics-Giants

American Football:
Jets-Giants
Raiders-49ers

Red Sox - Cubs are both cursed

Yankees - Red Sox are always mentioned in the same breath.

We got a lot of double letter teams like:

Chicago Cubs
Anaheim Angels
Boston Bruins
Los Angeles Lakers

I guess Metropolitans and Yankees are sort of similar.

White Sox and Cubs, I see no similarity there, however.

Arent they both in the Eastern Conference? If so, that would not be a subway series.

I guess Dodgers-Angels could kinda be seen as a subway series.

The NY Rangers and Islanders and the NJ Devils are all in the same division, much less conference.

Fine....Washington-Baltimore is the Amtrak Series.

And the Jets-Giants can't be a subway series. Which reminds me, they're actually playing each other this weekend. I think the Jets are the "home" team.

Kansas City Royals-St Louis Cardinals in Baseball. It is called the Freeway Series or something like that. Also, Anaheim Angels and LA Dodgers. Possibly two Texas teams?

They play in the same stadium! I don't recall any subways under the 50-yard line. All they need to do is take about 200 paces from the locker rooms. So, ha! Wait....well, whatever. But why must they be in different leagues/conferences? With interleague play in baseball, it's a yearly (now 6-game) event. Jets and Giants don't play each other every regular season.

Kind of hard to have a subway series if you need to be in different conferences, since conferences are done according to geography (NHL, NBA).

Well, I mean the same city by subway. I know they play in the same stadium. Being in different conferences is what makes it magic. Sure baseball has interleague play now, but that doesnt take away any of the beauty of the World Series.
