how to make mountains impassable?
Hello All, this is my first post.
Maybe this was already discussed, but since the search doesn;t work I couldn't find it. I would like to modify the mountain terrain so that no unit can walk on it (except worker) until a road has been built. Is this possible? thanx in advance Last edited by belart; Nov 14, 2003 at 06:29 AM. |

You could just go into the editor and give all units the 'Wheeled' flag. Then go into the Terrain tab, and make mountains impassible to wheeled units. That way, noly workers can enter mountains without roads

Yes, In the customs rules section of the editor you will find a terrain tab click on it, select Mountains from the drop down menu and then tick the impassable terrain box. This is for PTW only.

Or perhaps the movement rate in mountains could be set to a very high number. This would make travel through mountains very slow, but not impossible. This is just a suggestion. It depends on precisely what sort of effect that you want.

re: SuperBeaverInc: Don't forget to NOT have the workers wheeled, or they can't get into the mountains either.
re: PrivateByrne: "impassable" means just that -- no unit can enter. re:Flamegrape -- thestonesfan is right; a unit can always move 1 tile barring the above situations (wheeled in wheeled-prohibited terrain; impassable terrain). -- In short, go with SuperBeaver's suggestion. Just a warning: make certain the "Road (Commerce)" Terraform Bonus is > 0 or roads and railroads cannot be built in that terrain! Happy Modding, Oz
