Advice on Adding New Civs

I'm searching for advice/threads on adding new Civs to a Mac Mod I have - any suggestions or things to watch out for?

Is there a maximum number one can add?

thanks

Fruno

I know w/ C3C, and maybe PTW, the max you can have is 31. As far as the original Civ3, I don't know.

I'm pretty sure it's 31 in Civ3 as well. Cracker hit this wall in the GOTM designs. Apparently you can't even have more than 31 in the text files, to be available for use in specific games, as he had to replace some of the standard ones with the new ones, making the diplomacy.txt and pediaIcons.txt files non-backwards-compatible.

Never occured to me that you could add a civ.

Hmmm, can anyone recommend a good tutorial (if one exists)?

I might have one in about a week... just bought PTW (PC) and am pasting-in the new Civs to my ever-expaning Mac mod... I hope it works... just decided to dive-in and see what error messages I get!

Thanks dojoboy and AlanH for the replies - I thought it might be 31, as you suggested.

Hey dojoboy - did you get Hearts Of Iron? I did, booted it a few times, but it's just waaay too complex for me! Seems like it could takes weeks just to figure out what units to move where (I was trying out as the English!)
