New FP/Palace placement strategy required

With the latest change, it appears my old habit of building the FP close to the Palace and then moving the Palace later with a MGL is no longer a good idea.

How about this as one idea:
a) Rebuild the Palace, if required, in an optimal location in/around your core cities.

b) Use expendable cities to move the FP around as the empire expands.

Any thoughts?

the new strategy is to keep building palaces and Forbidden palaces and Secret police head quarters all over the place in mad random glee until they come out with a working patch. That's my strategy.

im still unsure about what they are fixing. it seems to me that corruption in GENERAL is a lot worse than it was in PTW or vanilla, so my question is are they lowering corruption or just the FP bug?

heres an example: in my latest PATCHED game my 2nd city one that was built 3 tiles away from my capital has corruption. why is this?

Well in my current game (which uses the beta patch) I'll probalby just build the FP close to my core to extend it a little bit.

My normal strategy was to build the FP relatively close to the capital and possibly move the palace later. Hopefully I won't have to change this, because hopefully they will fix it.

If it is, as the initial thoughts appear, then there is a case for optimisation.

If the FP simply changes rank corruption and has no effect on distance corruption, then the FP location will have to be very carefully chosen. Maybe a double-ring core on the center. I might have a play later.

I'm not too sure exactly how the FP affects corruption but it does not work like it did in Civ3 and PTW. AFAIK, the location of the FP is not important as it seems to lower the overall corruption around the Palace. I will try to move the Palace to a central location in my empire and build the FP in any location.

BTW: I like the old system of corruption but will hold off on commenting on the new system until more is learned.

i liked the old system better as well and Im hoping that this is just a bug in the beta patch. why change this feature, was anyone clamoring for more corruption?

This FP does work better than the pre-patch version. It is different. I'm not sure if I like it better or worse, yet. This will take a few games.

Does it matter where you build it?

According to my test, it doesn't matter in the slightest. It just counts as another palace in your capitol. I may be wrong, but I don't think so...

How does it exactly work then? I was under the impression that it acted like the old FP but it didn't reduce corruption as much.

But apparently it doubles the effect of the palace? If it does double the effect, does it matter how far away the FP is? For example, could it be on another continent and still double the effect of the palace?

I'm getting close to building an FP in my current game and the game is going very well, so I'd like to know how it works.

I did a simple test in the editor too but my result is that the location does matter. Load this biq and see that the cities west of Neapolis have less corruption than the cities east of Rome on comparable distance (compare Hispalis and Pompeii with Pisea and Ravenna).

I can't look at the save ERIKK (too much hassle to transfer between pc's), but i'll take your word for it

I was under the impression of --

The FP doubles the affect of the palace in your capitol city - as if there were two palaces there. Hence, the corruption in the FP city does not go down as dramatically as expected (although it does decrease). As does the corruption in the other cities.
This makes the FP still worth building (and should be quite easy to amend by Fixaxis) -- it shouldn't matter where you build it
initially... I must be wrong though
