does anyone know how to change or move the arrows on the tech tree?

They are painted on that beige background. It doesn't matter where you position the techs (which you do in the editor), you have to repaint the arrows by hand (or use cut and paste, as most of us do).

Uh, er here is Plan B; To wit, 'stuff so many techs into one Era that there is virtually no room for arrows'.

Plan C

Plan C is to look at the altered tech trees in the various conquests and see if there's a tech tree background that suits your needs .

Or plan D is to position them so that the prereqs are obvious and ignore the arrows

I'm just using someone else's tech tree for now, since it covers just about everything I could think of.

hmm, some interesting ideas, i might try using the tech tree on the conquest scenarios.

but then how did the people who made the conquest scenarios change the tech tree?

They loaded the era-specific background image (in one of the Art subfolders of the Conquest folder) into Paint Shop Pro, or some other paint program and edited it there with the basic tools...

plan d: use a background without any, otherwise confusing arrows

plan e: someone could make a file containing all sorts of arrows (long, short, bend, etc) and a transparent background to be placed into finished techtree pcx files...

Wolfwood has it right. Breakaway just had the artists on staff crank it out once they got the techs in place. Doesn't take real long with a good paint program.

Don't bother with it till you have the techs and their posiitions more or less finalized.

Someone should make a compeltely blank one (with the arrows cut and pasted over). I would do it, but I have yet to install photoshop in this computer, and my PSP trial period has expired. I'll porbably install it next week...

As Mrtn said, my tutorial has everything and more for what you could need to redo your tech tree.
