Who playes Colonization to win?
Hi,
The civfanatics ladder system is now almost a year old. With almost 1000 members and almost as many games played, i think it is a great success. We would like to expand our ladders with other games in the Sid Meijers series. Ladders however need a certain critical mass however in order to be successful. Therefor I like to see whether there is an interest for a ladder system in this game. So my question is: Do you want to play competitive Colonization games for a ladder/ tournament?

Could you give some background info on the nature of these competitions and tournaments?
I'm not particularly interested in winning for its own sake, but it would be worthwhile to organise community-based comparison games the playing of which is both involving and instructive particularly on the strategic aspects. |

You can read about the ladder we already finished for civ2. Its now running 1 year already and I think it works nice. We will make a similar ladder to any game where is enough demand for it. check out the ladder at www.civladders.com
In general: You have to schedule your own games. Therefor you need to find opponents yourself. We give tips where you can find these opponents. When you won the game, you have to report it on the ladder site. So basically, the ladder is a site that shows results, and calculate scores upon these results. The scores are based upon difference in scoring. The pinciple is, that you get more points from winning against someone that is good then from someone that is not so good. We define good and not good, by the amount of points someone has. Ladder tasks are primarily: -improve website -help players with handling disputes -set rules and make rulings when they are not obeyed.

Sound like the emphasis is on multiplay. Unfortunately it's mainly SP in Colonization.
