I cannot play very long, ( around five to six minutes, like 50 turns)because my system freezes, and I have to restart the computer.
I have a Windows XP system with NTFS, 768 Meg Ram, 61,4 Gig Hdd, Ati Radeon 64 ViVO with the most recent drivers, SoundBlaster Live X Gamer with new drivers, Optical Intellimouse ABit motherboard, Intel Pentium III 866eb, Pioneer DVD drive, no CD writer. I tried the tricks suggested on the Civ3 site for Windows XP, i.e. I tried to run it in Windows 2000, 98, et 95 compatibility modes unsuccessfully. Il looks like it stops when it tries to autosave, but I am not sure, because it is then frozen. Did bomebody have the same problem? Does somebody have a fix? HELP!!!

Well auto save happens every other turn I believe so I dont think that that is the problem.
1. You might try updating your video, sound and chipset drivers. 2. Run windows update, you never know what updates they might have for you. 3. Try disabling any uneeded startup programs you have. 4. Are you playing on an administrative account or a child account. You might want to try playing on the account you installed it with. 5. Try disabling any virus protection while you are playing the game. 6. Clear out your temp folder and or defrag your drive. 7. Try limiting the amount of RAM to 512 meg. I hope one of these works for you. Let me know. Dustan |
