help re population [or lack of] problem

I have recently encountered a problem where the population does not increase for maybe a hundred moves.
I irrigate and build roads but the population stays at one.

I can still get the advances.

hmm, can you be a bit more precise? Have you got the governors on? Have you had a look at the city screen? DO you perhaps just have to move some citizens working other tiles?

yeah, it sounds like you don't have the citizens working the correct tiles. Are you familiar with the city screen interface?

If the city name is yellow, then that means it is at frozen growth. Red means starving, white means growing.

If you could post a screenie of the city screen, we could be more precise.
