Turn Civ4 into RPG

okay all the people who have seen the title probably think i'm a whack but this is my 2 cents

first of all i think turns should be dropped because it would be more fun to have the AI move at the same time as you like in multiplayer. this would make the it more strategic since you can't just see all the AI units in your turn and take a long time to make up a strategy. this would add you to think out-of-the-box to counter sudden AI moves if you think about it it would add more gameplay to the game and make it harder to win

since they dropped turns you should also drop movement points since you no longer have turns and now all the units have infinate movement points since their is no turns restricting gameplay.

these changes would make Civilization 4 into a RPG(Role Playing Game) instead of TBG (Turn based game).

Hope you like my idea but if you don't, don't hate me for it

No...that would make Civ an RTS. A role-playing game is an adventure game, not a strategy game.

Agreed. That would ruin any strategy game.

Maybe not the worst idea ever, but close.

No, now that I think of it, it is.

Civ is a turn based game. period. RTS games lack the strategy element that CIV provides. It is all reflexes

There are plenty of games on the market that may be what you are seeking. Rise of Nations comes to mind.

Wow. It's not as bad as turning Civ into a FPS, but still pretty bad.

Its been done - Rise of Nations. Lot of people liked it. I thought it was somewhere between OK and good. It can't compare to 3C3 though.

I would recommend playing one of the Total War games. They are turn-based/RTS hybrids that are simply outstanding.

Also, Soren has already stated that Civ4 will be turn based.

You should read the post about Civ4 being a FPS, it was hilarious.

Also, not that it matters but: Civ4 should be turn based, otherwise it would ruin everything. There are tons of games that rely on reflexes but very few pure strategy games. Civ is the flagship series, the heart and soul, of this small genre.

The beauty of Civ is its turn based interface. Changing it would kill the basic ideas of Civ ever since Civ 1. It'll also require so much more RAM for that too.

Yeah, I agree! If the Civ series went real time, I would cry, and perhaps try to kill myself! The meaning of life itselves would vanish if CIV became a copy of a bad copy of itself, read Rise of Nations!
CIV could never be so complex and challanging if it wasnt turnbased. Turnbased is the best format for a strategy game, RTS is best used in tactical games like C&C Generals!
(If RON was turnbased I think it could have been something)

Why would you want all units to have infinite movement?

ARE YOU CRAZY? Turn Civilization into a Role Player? Maybe you mean RTS, or Real Time Strategory? Still, YOU'RE CRAZY! The system is good how it is! There's already too many games like that out there, anyway. I have several people who like the turn based system. If you want that system, go play Age of Empires or Rise of Nations! They're coming out with an AOE 3 soon, but you can take your copy of Civilization and smash it if that's what you want!
