New Civ idea: The Rapa Nui(Easter Islanders)
This pacific civilization has always intrigued me. The mystery of their Stone Heads rivals Stone Hinge. Their catatropic periods where almost the entire island's population was wiped out. Their ununual form of writing.
Would anyone else like to see these guys as their own civ? Civ Name: Rapa Nui Traits: Industrious and Religious? Governments espotism and Monarchy?Great Leader: Ariki Mau Hotu Matua Military Leaders: - Torometi - Te Pito Kura Scientific Leaders: - Tu'u Ko Ihu - Jacobo Hey - Thor Heyerdahl - William Mulloy - Sergio Rapu - Charles Love UU: Matato’a Citys: Hanga Roa Puna Pau Orongo Motu Nui Rano Kau Ana Kakenga Ahu Akivi Ahu Vaihu Ahu Akahanga Ahu Tepeu Rano Aroi Rano Raraku Ahu Tongariki Maunga Terevaka Pukatikei Anakena Hanga Piko Mataveri Ahu Tahai Hanga Mataveri Otai Hanga Poukura Mata Ngarau

I'm all for it. I've always wanted to see the Easter Islanders. Do you know of anyone who wouldn't mind doing a Rapa Nui leaderhead? Who would it be? Also, won't a city list be a bit of a problem, considering they lived on a single island?

Well, I think its a good idea, but how you can make a city list of this "civilization" if they only lived in one only island, I think that the city list would have like 2 cities on it

Japan is only an Island. England is only an Island. Be creative?
Oh, and that pic was Kal-els last unit scetch. He requested it(like 99% of his drawings) and then left for the Navy. Polynesia is a broad group civ, like the Vikings. Basically, it covers all of the pacific islands. Scandinavia covers Sweden, Finland, Denmark etc. Just because it does doesn't mean the individual nations don't deserve their own civ. Besides, the Rapa Nui are a truly unique people, those stone heads set them apart from all the other Polynesian based peoples.

SoG: England and Japan consist of a several large islands. Rapa Nui, one single tiny tiny island with a few tiny uninhabitable atolls.

Not really. I mean, if you're doing a Maronite & Bosnian civ...
But like NeoT says, good luck trying to figure out a city list. Maybe look at Chruchward's book "The Lost Continent of Mu" |

The thing about the swordman is they are not believed to have used iron. they were believed to be a peaceful people until the exhaused all the resources of there island, then converted to warfare for what resources that were left and then to cannibalism. What has been found as far as weapons is large obsidion spear points. DNA testing of the reamind population proves that they are of Polynesian decent. The cities are all in spanish due to the fact that it now belongs to chillie. hope this helped

Quote:
The Rapa Nui had, at their greatest extent, a population of about 10,000 on a single insignificant island in the middle of the Pacific and managed to destroy themselves through civil war and squandering all the resources of said island by building stone statues that, while impressive, served no real purpose - not exactly what I'd call history makers. By the time they made contact with Western civilization there were fewer than a thousand of them left. It seems to me there'd be far more reason to focus on other civilizations - including the Polynesians, whom the Rapa Nui were descended from. |

This is a "City" list that I recently made:
Hanga Roa Puna Pau Orongo Motu Nui Rano Kau Ana Kakenga Ahu Akivi Ahu Vaihu Ahu Akahanga Ahu Tepeu Rano Aroi Rano Raraku Ahu Tongariki Maunga Terevaka Pukatikei Anakena I think that the Only city in that "City" list is Hanga Roa, but the others are name of parts of the island.(the island is like 11x23 km) Hope it helps you |

Thanks NeoT!
While I understand where you guys are coming from, A Polynesian scenerio would need more players than just two(Samoans and Hawaiians). The Rapa Nui are a desparately needed civ for such a scenerio.

In Hawaii, his "helmet" is called a makaki'i or makini. I have also heard it referenced as ikaika - but in the Hawaiian dictionary I use, that word stands for strength.
