Adding Techs

This is really confusing...I was advised to use the 3cmt, but when I downloaded I didn't see how you apply this to adding a tech tree..., ?

I put in the coordinates using trial and error so I can get them where i want them, but no arrows are pointing to the new techs I added, someone please help...this shouldn't be this difficult...

You don't use C3MT to add a new tech, you use it to place it in the .pcx, avoiding the Y/X headache.

The arrows are part of the .pcx graphics. There are not automaticly (sp?) added. You had to drawn them yourself.

Don't forget to add #TECH_****_LARGE and #TECH_**** in your pediaicons.txt, there are indispensable.

Ok..thats good then..but how exactly do you use this prgram? Sorry if this is a dumb question but I'm really new to this kind of stuff.

First, you add the tech in the editor.

Then, you open C3MT (obviously) > Tech Tree Builder > select you biq.

As you haven't set the coord X/Y of your new tech, it should be placed at 0/0, and the upper left. Click and drag it where you want to put it. Save.

For adding the arrows, it should have a tutorial somewhere, but it's just playing with science_****.pcx in the Art folder.

It should, kevin, make sure to have the last version.

Dom, yep, it does But I'm not sure it works with C3C1.22 biq. I haven't tried 'till 1.15.

Edit : In fact, I've just tried and my version doesn't load any 1.22 biq. Perhaps there is an update, I'll check.

Edit : And I've got the last version. Am I the only one that can't load 1.22 biq ? I've posted a message for Gramphos on his thread.

I was able to load mine... *shrugs*

But I don't know if I can save without crashing... haven't tried that.

Hey good news!

I read this thread and Supa said that 1.22 cant open up..well I opened C3MT and a pop up came up the a new update was out.

It said: New in this version:
Opens up 1.22 BIQs

Or something like that.....

Could the French update really make the difference? I didn't think it affected the hard coding...

Ohoh, that's a very good news truckingpete

I don't know DMII, it could have a single changement in the biq version, like 1.22(f) instead of 1.22. Anyway, whatever I was thinking, I was wrong. I updated to the real last version (1.10) and now it works.
