Game won't work post-patch

Hi,

Since last week's patch, I can't seem to start a game of Civ at all. It loads fine, but when I go to "start game", it shows me the leader screen, then just times out and crashes.

I tried verifying the game files. That didn't work. I also uninstalled it, then downloaded the full game again but still the same problem.

Anyone else experiencing this?

Update. After re-reverifying the game files and loading in DX9, it now works. However, a standard-sized game used to load in a few seconds. Now it takes about 10 times as long. How odd.
