It's kinda hard for me to ask a question, since I don't play it anymore.....ummmmm...here's one.

Did any of you ever use sappers (I think that's what they were called)?

They could tunnel under ground then blow the wall out to allow your troops to attack easier. I used four of them in one attack just to try them out. They went up and blew the wall apart and allowed the rest of my troops to run in and slaughter the defenders. It was one of the quickest battles I had, but also the bloodiest because all the sappers died from what I remember.

I uesd to but eventually i found out they were just abig waste. They enemy always knew they were there. So i dont build them anymore.<IMG SRC="http://forums.civfanatics.com/ubb/smile.gif" border=0> Im tired of asking someone else ask a question (no not u duke<IMG SRC="http://forums.civfanatics.com/ubb/rolleyes.gif" border=0><IMG SRC="http://forums.civfanatics.com/ubb/smile.gif" border=0>)

Bump. Ok i'll ask a Q what EARLY troop type do you build the most of???

Early in the game I don't build much (if any) military units. I build workers and improve the factories.

When I do start to build an army, I start off with some light infantry. They are necessary in any attack to take the shots from defending artillery. Then I add some regulars (I think they were called?) and maybe one or two Grenadiers (also not sure on the name). The bulk of my army was artillery (about 1/3 heavy and 2/3 light).

I remeber throwing in a few horse based units (to chase down slower units once I broke through the walls), but don't remember what type or their names.

Yeah you got the names right i mostly use grenadiers and light artillery if in not attacking a walled city.

BTW what early ship do you build???

Ya know what i have NEVER built a raider. I dont know why but they never really seemed as if they were worth it to me. Its not like they are the only ship that can capture cargo. Oh well.. What was the most that you ever got from one turn of capture cargo??? I remember i once got like 83 furniture.

From what I remember, the speed of the ship is what makes it more likely to capture cargo.

Raiders are what I used to capture almost every shipment moving on the seas. That's how I cut the other GP down to size. I captured their loads then sold them to the MP. That way the GP didn't get any income, but I did and got better realtions with the MP.

I think my biggest captured load was a couple hundred clothing.

Woha! I'm learning stuff from sombody who doesnt even play the game anymore 200 clothing not im sure you made a pretty penny off of that 'bout the Mps how long did it ussally take you to get it to dark green???

(btw i appreciate you haveing to try to remember all this stuff)

I would usually get one or two to dark green early on, but the rest usually took some time to get friendly.

Since I palyed these games to a certain degree, I have some of it commited to memory. Also, Ace and I usually played them at the same time and often discussed issues at length so that reinforced at lot of it in my memory.

I know I'm getting some of the names of units wrong, but hopefully it's been close enough to get my idea across.

I also don't remember having to play many of the games to the more modern units. I know I've played some with the second level of units, but not really any with the third level.

The third's the best. No more horses, now you get tanks, infantrymen, and machine gunners, railroad guns, and field artillery. It by far the best esp. when you got a rail. up against an old rifleman. BOOM! One shot kills. Unfortunately you need heavy amounts of gasoline. And the navy woohoo the navy. Dreadnoughts, battlecrusiors armored crusiors. (id like to see a dread. up against a frigate) It usually takes me a while to play out a game. Oh well.. ANYWAY ummm ok Did you run out of money at the beginning like i do?

Early on, you always run out of money. I alwasy bought as much timber as I could each turn, then turn that into furniture and sell that. I kept doing that and expanding my factory when needed and soon I was the furniture king. But then the market for it starts to dry up, but by then I ususally had enough money to start becoming the clothing king.

I know I would always trade with the MP's even if I didn't make much money, just so they would become favorable.

Ahh.. so concentrate on one field early on.. thanks! Already i think im getting better at this game<IMG SRC="http://forums.civfanatics.com/ubb/smile.gif" border=0> Ok kinda dumb Q but... Did u use the premade names for the other GP's like Kem and Haxaco or not??<IMG SRC="http://forums.civfanatics.com/ubb/biggrin.gif" border=0>

Oh... I always enjoyed seeing the thing at the end. Did anyone EVER sell you artillery maybe it just me but nobody will sell me artillery

I've been able to buy horses I think, but no, I don't remember any artillery or weapons being bought. I know I could have sold tons, but never did either. No way am I going to arm the other guys just to have to fight them later.

I did once, but that was more of a controlled situation (they were small and beaten down). I sold guns to them, then attacked them and blew everything up.

Too bad you dont ever play sounds like you would be the king. About upgrading how far did ya usally upgrade to?
