Yeah, like I said, I don't remember quite all the details, so I'm not sure how big they got.

I think I have been sharing all my helpful hints with you this whole time.

Here's a note I found in the box for the game (it's mostly empty, so most of my notes were thrown away ).

Once you add 10 expert workers, your university expands, and you get 10 free paper. This also happens at 30 expert workers.

I don't really remember what paper does in the game, but it was worth enough to write down.

He He quite funny GK Ah so get expericed works eh? Thanks! Well at least you found the box. So anything in praticular ya wanna say GK? Oh and btw i HAVE played tt great game. You dont hafta run.

Oh sorry duh. Paper is used to train workers and..um...i think thats it. Go figure. I know i always run out of it thats for sure. The higher the level of worker higher amount of paper consumed for training.

When we first started this little dialogue, I was tempted to load the game again and check it out.... but then I realized it would take me longer to install it than I would spend playing it again.

A couple of more posts and we would have the biggest thread in the 'Other Games' forum.

I'll try and rummage through the rest of the box tonight and see if there are anymore tidbits to be found.

Alright thats it we're goin for the record! And come on you play it more than 15 hours
I sure hope you find something b\c im kinda stuck in this game. I think im gonna lose

Maybe this note will help.....?

In the diplomacy screen, you can have your foreign minister figure out what subsidy will make you the favorite trade partner of a minor nation. Select and subsidy, hold the 'Ctrl' key down, and click on that minor nation. The proper subsidy will automatically be placed. If there is no hope of being the favorite, it will place a 100% subsidy. Of course, the other players can change thier subsidy also, so you may need to do this often to ensure favored nation status.

I think that was the most helpful thing yet! And all this time i thought i was really good at this game when only i have just begun to scratch the surface. I sure hope someone reads this one day they could really learn something from this dialog. I will try this new tip out ASAP! Thanks btw<IMG SRC="http://forums.civfanatics.com/ubb/biggrin.gif" border=0> IYO what was THE best resource?

Early on I focused on timber. Simply because it was used to build products to sell as well as upgrade the factories. Then it became coal and iron to make steel then oil for fuel.

I would buy all the timber I could carry or afford and make lumber, use the lumber to make furniture and expand the factories, then continue to buy lots of timber (to make lumber and paper) as well as wool or cotton and start to make clothing. Then if things got really good, I would be buying coal and iron to build an army and upgrade the factories further. Then I would start to buy the actual land of minor nations that my relations were 'ok' with, but that I wasn't going to focus on making them 'dark green'. From there it was some combat followed with lots of trade (be sure to keep your merchant fleet big enough to do all this) and buying land up.

Ok big merchant fleet got it. So timber is an important commodity. Ok i know you didnt play games that were really long but... did you find any other resources praticlarly helpful later on???

I remember putting a lot of effort into finding iron and coal later in the game. I know steel was used to upgrade the factories, build ships, and hardware could be sold for quite a bit, as well as arms for the troops, so that became very important. I didn't get a chance to play too much with oil, but I remember that being used for everything under the sun also.

I know once I started to buy land everywhere and get MP to join my empire, it wasn't too difficult to have enough resources to get most things done.

You ever buy goods always raw materials. What if your loaded? Oil always becomes really important to me b/c i always endyp playin late games :/ go figure. Anything YOU want to know?

It all about the location. I started out on a really bad island all by myself, and a lot of mountains so im think great a lot of coal and stuff. NO 1 in like 10 actually had something in which made me mad and i had no real timber squares. Then a GP declared war. Now 3 of them are at wart with me no one likes me either i just might play it out however for a learning experience.

Hmmmm... That does sound like a tough one. I remember my most successful games have been where I started next to another GP and had one or two MP on the same continent. I would focus on trading with everybody but those on my continent and then just capture all the land on my continent while my relations built with the others.

Well it over now. The forces of Ordune have overrun my captial. Had they attacked any later and i would of gone bankruppt anyhow.

It was horrible there was know hope for survival.

I've just started a new game and guess what, You can actually choose where you start by choosing what GP you want i've taken your advice and with several other on a large continet. Soon it will all be mine!

BTW what's the largest oppsing forc you've ever met. And if you ask i can give you a horrific account on the fall of Patagon City.

I have seen some pretty big forces. I know I've had armies where I couldn't fit all my troops on the board the first wave. And times where the AI had a force just as large.

With your new game, just be sure to have defenders in each territory. Even if its one light Inf. That way the flag (or whatever it is) is shown in the territory as having troops and will make the AI think twice about attacking you early on.
