Reigns is a card choice game I have been recently playing. Created by British developer group Nerial (who also made Passengers, Magic Shot and Singular) & published by Devolver Digital (who also published Hotline Miami, Gods Will Be Watching, Hatoful Boyfriend, Ronin and Downwell) which sets the player as a long line of kings who must balance the faith, people, military and economy of their realm while trying to fend off a ancient curse. It is a take on the video card game genre, taking it to a political intrigue level as you manage your kingdom through a series of events, including church building requests, spring festivals, plagues, dungeon discoveries, dragons, crusades, magic mushrooms (yes!), finding love and more. It also a variety of death scenes that come for your kings, usually cause by running out or having too much of a certain value; for instance running out of your military may lead to your country being invaded with you slain on the throne or having a too strong military may result in a coup which ends the king's dominion in a cell.
Spoiler coup d'état :
It is a interesting game with plenty of strange and amusing events.
Currently available for £1.99 (£4.36 with the Collector's Edition) on Steam.
