Hey i trying to find another team for you to talk to, in the mean time relax and enjoy the easiest job going around

BC you fill in for me when I move.

Yes I like the domestic policy....BUT I want to get metal casting so we can get the forge/collolous built...so hurry up. We pull that off we then start phase two of whats our next wonder...

Well i have a domestic question so i figured i would use the domestic thread.

Currently we have a Work Boat being built in Aloha and a Library in Hello. Will will have a third city (Hej) in 3 or 4 turns. So the question is what do we build next, the options are fairly limited and MC will take a while so is there any preferences or train of thought on what to do.

Possibilites are

Units (settler, worker, scout, axeman, spearman)- all
Barracks - all
Granary - Hello, Hej
Library - Aloha, Hej

One possibility is to go for a barracks in Hello for units, while the other two get granary/library and produce settlers/workers in between.

What do you think of this.

Hello....barracks then units....grow it to limit then run a specialist.

Aloha...library ASAP, IF we can run a specialist and still grow do so at completion of library. barracsk would be nice after library

Hej...first build should be a lighthouse, then Library for culture. By building the lighthouse you set it up to possibly sneak in the great lighthouse if it appears no one is going for it. It should also get a barracks at some point since it is now on the "threat axis" from Loco.

For reference
Aloha is size 4, limit 5
Hello is size 3, limit 4
We can't build the lighthouse as we don't have Sailing

Edit- they are happiness limits, health ones are up around 8

Ok we need to make the people happy..or whip them if they arent.

Ok still build library in Aloha then stagnant it and run a specialist or make it grow really slow.
Hello...run specialist as soon as possible.

Hej...duhp....build a library for culture? OR a boat for exploring?

what is your opinions guys..speak up i am only going on 3 hours sleep and half a pot of coffee.

a couple of boats need to be built, one for exploring and one for working whatever the resource around Hej will be.

After that, hej should build a library. Think we basically need a rax/granary/library in every city.

with granary being built first, then library then rax.

We dont especially need and workers/settlers for the time being-maybe dice in a couple of axes for protection :)

I've put in screenshots of Aloha and Hello so its easier to see what can/can't be built.

The food resources give us flexibility on the tiles we can work at any time so we can move the worked tiles around to suit our needs. Epsilon alluded to the fact that there is a lack of happiness resources. We have one but can't use it at the moment, so that could be a research path to follow. We don't have slavery at the moment so whipping is out, but i think we can juggle things around without it, besides production isn't our problem.

Here is my idea for build order

Aloha Work Boat (5)-> Library -> Settler -> Barracks
Hello Library (8) -> Barracks -> Worker ->Units
Hej Library -> Granary -> Barracks

Research
Metal Casting (38) -> Sailing -> Mathematics -> Calandar

If we work something out with Loco we might need to do Alphabet to trade some techs. Loco would have some of the religious ones which would help us get to Monarchy quicker.

I agree with that Robi...as long as we have a unit to go with the settler.

I also wish we had somethign better than a warrior in Aloha

We have the gold to upgrade it if reqiured.

hello we should put an axe in, inbetween rax and the worker, that can be used as escort for the settler and i think should be done about the same time the settler is being produced.

That warrior we have in aloha we should move south as a fog buster, (dont we have 2 units in hello as well?) if so move one of them out as a fogbuster also.

Hej should build a granary first imo, then a library-library will be useless until it reaches a decent pop. also you may as well put a lighthouse in before the rax as the chances are we will have found sailing out by the time that build queue has ended.

See eariler, no Sailing, no Lighthouse:(

Hello has a warrior and a spearman. We can put in a axe before the worker, that not a problem. The order i suggested is more of a guide, its hard to judge build times as the situation changes with growth ect.

The main theme on the map seems to be the lack of happiness. Epsilon said as much in the Oracle thread and we can see it for ourselves, so i'm guessing this was one of Sirian's twists. What we have to do is decide the best way to go about negating this as there are several options.

One part of this is to start extra cities to make up for the lack of potenial size which is why i think getting a 4th city in the works by T80. I would also like to see city 5,6 ect up and running asap, but maintainace costs will dictate who many we can afford, without courts probably 5.

Slavery and whipping is an option, but we have to lose a turn to enable it. The other thing is our production is in a good state so i don't think its our best option. I like robboo's idea, since we have lots of extra food we can stagnant growth when we reach the happiness limit and switch around tiles that are being worked and employing science specialist. This will give us GS to use for acadamies ect. We should aim to have 7-8 tiles built up for each city to allow max flexibility while we can't grow further.

The only weakness we have atm is gold, which whipping doesn't fix. After MC is done we will have forges to boost production further and fingers crossed the colossus to boost the gold. Hopefully we can get something out of Loco, the fact its been nearly a week since they met us (remember they saw us first when they played T67) i don't see them being a good partner in any capacity.

Ah but see what i said at the end of the post 'the chances are we will have found sailing out by the time that build queue has ended.'

ive got a message in my inbox from loco now so i guess we'll see what was going on when i open it.(ok i opened it, bit disapointing after waiting a week for it)

I know its a bit on in the game but we could start thinking of a variation of cottage spam? it'll keep the city sizes low but also allow us to build up the cities we already have-would allow us to get another 5/6 cities in without maintenance hitting us too hard before courthouses?

Also maintenance costs dont forget should be easier than i think some of us maybe used too (for instance i was amazed at the amount of cities i could have on this months gotm ;))

If Happiness is the problem..there are few solutions.
1. Religion
2. Resources
3. building that effect 1 and 2
4. Wonders...these wonders are often over looked....
5. Culture slider

Small population cities but more of them may be the key. Here is another option taken from Civ 3...put teh cities closer. The city is maintenace free if it is with 3 tiles of the capital. So instead of having a big area have a small area with lots of cities. Even if teh cities do grow how often do you see a city with with every tile worked. I think we may want to put City 4 south of the capital but within 3 tiles and then put city 5 north of the capital but with in 3 tiles.( city 6 across the lakewithin 3 tiles???). We need to stop looking for perfect spots.

The small close in satelite cities become low production, low population cottages factories. They pay for the other further cities. Hell you could run them with "Wealth" and have them pay for a whole bunch more.( dam wish I wasnt moving to try this out)

By the time they are up and running at full population we would then be in a position to expand land wise.

Corruption if i remember rightly is also multiplied by the number of cities and not just the distance from the palace.

It also means that we cant get big cities eventually and will always be stuck at the same city sizes, so i think we should go for the perfect spots.

Both Robboo and BC have good points. I was thinking of keeping our core 5 or 6 cities apart for maximum growth, but as we get further out we tighten the spacing
