A PPC is pretty questionable for running Civ4. Get ready not just for the bugs and shoddy porting, but a general sense of lethargy, too.

Perfectly understandable. After all, web browsers are so much different in Windows... It can get confusing! I mean, forward and backward buttons, go buttons, scroll bars... It's nothing like a Mac--nothing. You confuse can't and won't.

Because there aren't any email clients or web browsers for PCs, right?

I have the same issue. It's minor enough to me that I didn't even think about it when writing my last post. Compared to all of the graphics bugs on the Mac version, it's nothing. It seems to only effect the leaders that originally shipped with Civ 4. Those that came with the expansion packs...

I got tired of waiting to pay more for an inferior product. I bought Civ Complete, and have been enjoying BtS running on Parallels for a few weeks. It's rock solid, fast (it doesn't slow down in the end-games), and completely enjoyable. Buying Aspyr products at this point seems to be a fool's...

My frustration level has gotten to the point that I'm abandoning Civ on the Mac. I've ordered the Civ box set (found it for $25!) and Civ IV Complete for the PC. Once my new MacPro arrives, I'll never play Civ on the Mac again. I'll also never buy another Aspyr product. They've absolutely failed.

Perhaps Firaxis or 2K Games doesn't want Aspyr further tarnishing their reputations. The Civ4 port is one of the worst I've ever played. Once a holiday bundle of the expansions is shipped for Windows, I'll be buying it.

Don't make it sound as though it's just me. There are plenty of people here who've played it without problems on their MBs and Minis. In my experience, the actual graphics card used just does not make a huge difference. When I went from a 9800 to the x850, I saw no improvements. The problems...

I've got a dual 2.0 G5 with an x850 card, and a 1.83gz MacBook. Each has 2GB of memory. Performance is almost equal. The MB is faster and more playable in small games, while the G5 gives marginally better performance in larger games. The MB has fewer video bugs than the G5, which should...

Oh, and for what it's worth not all 17" iMacs have the GMA950. It's on those that are largely targeted at education institutions.

Stick to what you actually have experience with, Alan. The latest and "greatest" runs fine on GMA950s.

The other question is where on mac.com is it? There are many thousands of pages there where someone can download software from.
