My guess is Civ 7 will be fairly similar to Civ 6, but built to be more modular / compatible with ‘Game Modes’ than Civ 6 was (which sort of had modes etc just tacked on at the end).
I expect, in particular, that districts and governors are here to stay. Probably Ages as well. Certainly the...
Civ 6 has been an amazing ride.
I still load up Civ 6 to play. There’s a tonne of stuff to do and ways to play. Lots of great touches that bring me back.
The last round of updates and leaders were just fantastic. No, not any radical changes to the game. But little things here or there that...
I hope Civ 7 is pretty similar to Civ 6.
To me, Civ 6 is basically Civ 4 +Civ 5, but done to an incredibly high standard. Civ is best at being a “board game” where each player plays a “historical themed” faction. The minute it gets more like a simulation, it just ends up a very poor grand...
It really doesn’t look like they will.
I mean, +1 for Firaxis addressing the points you raise. I’d add the AI Science bug too. But, yeah, don’t think it’ll happen.
It’s really quite frustrating.
Civ VI was such a great game right from the start and has then received massive amounts of support...
Yeah. Unequivocal - we’re not getting anything but leaders in the leader pack.
The way he said “or anything like that” made me chuckle. Just sounded very offhand, like haha no we’re totally not doing more content lol. I don’t think it was rude or anything, but as someone that still thinks more...
It is literally one of my favourite features in the game. Just a little whimsy and humour.
I play Civ to have fun. Lots of things in Civ are fun. Different sorts of fun; some things are more complicated or less complicated fun. But patting the dog is its own fun, and I’m totally down for that.
Agreed more or less.
Firaxis seem like good guys. The Civ franchise is great and Civ VI is a fantastic game. But the game has got less “tight” since GS through NFP, and bugs and other frictions not being addressed is frustrating and makes the game unenjoyable a bit less enjoyable.
Firaxis...
I’m really not getting the people with their knickers in a twist that the free DLC is still being rolled out.
Like, I get it’s a bit disappointing that something seems to have messed up at the back end, but seriously stuff like this happens, FXS and whoever are clearly working to sort it out...
2016 Victoria and her Red Coats leave the chat.
I really don’t think it’s bloated. Yes, there’s a lot going on, but I think it all mostly gels. There’s maybe a few Game Modes from NFP that are a bit out there (eg Zombies) but they’re optional. If anything, I think a few mechanics are just a...
Ed says elsewhere that he / Firaxis think the game is “complicated enough” or something similar.
But come on Ed. Just one more little expansion or game pass? There’s still a bit of room left to add to the game. Aren’t there still some things from Civ 5 you could bring over…?
If we all promise...
Yeah, I’m with you.
The Firaxis team seem like great people that love the game and really try to get things right. The Leader Pass is super cool - in some ways, I can’t believe it’s free!
Looks like Firaxis are working through the technical issues. It’ll work itself out.
Leaders. Hah. Love the leader abilities. Yes, all pretty straightforward implementations, but that’s ok. There’s enough Kupes and Lady Six Sky in the game.
I really like Lincoln’s Leader Ability mechanically. But I think linking his legacy to Plantation Improvements is a bit … um, misconceived...
I’m always a bit bemused with these sorts of threads. I honestly don’t get most people’s gripes about Civ VI at all.
I really, really like Civ VI as is. It’s the most Civ-y Civ there’s ever been. Yes, I really like the mechanics. Yes, even Eurekas. Yes, even Religion. Yes, even Loyalty. And yes...
Do you think Firaxis could get Cate Blanchett in a studio for 15 minutes to do a few lines? I mean, maybe Sean Bean could give her a call to ask…?
St Cate saying “would you be interested in a trade agreement with England” would be the most punk thing since being able to pat the Scout’s dog...
Agreed.
I’m happy to get some new leaders and personas, including some fan favourites, and great that it’s free. But lack of other content is disappointing, even if understandable.
Anyway. Bit of buzz over the next few months will be fun enough.
