In my one game I've completed I never had a problem with economy. I had a decent sized Roman Empire (10-12 real cities, 8-10 puppets).
-Roads connected every city, but only just enough (no unnecessary roads).
-A few railroads, really just enough to connect a few cities to your capital, and...
I think I have an interesting experience with railroads. Before being able to build railroads, I was making like 200+ GPT, but this was during a lengthened golden age.
Then I start making a few railroads and and it goes down to 80gpt (as soon as the golden age ends). So... it's possible to...
A scout obviously isn't good for the Warrior-zerging strategy. But for basically any other opening strategy, the Scout is a viable building option (basically any strategy that doesn't involve early combat).
There is nothing a Warrior can do to beat a scout in exploring. The most effective way...
It's kind of hard to compare the two classes when they both do completely different things.

destroying barbarian camps: Warriors obviously can more directly deal with Barbarian camps, but with a scout you will certainly find them faster. And in my...
I'm new to these message boards and I hear this term used a lot. From context clues I assumed it meant someone that just went directly to a certain technology so they could quickly get started on a wonder or whatever, but that definition doesn't always fit the situation people use it in.
Circumnavigation means "sail around the earth", as I'm sure you know.
So the problem is that if you could only reach one of your cities through circumnavigation and not by just sailing around the actual continent, then TECHNICALLY your harbor shouldn't be connected UNTIL you have the ability...
But how often do you build a harbor on the OTHER side of the continent without knowing if a path exists through water to connect them? I think the designers might've thought of this but realized the odds of it being a factor in gameplay is small.
Also... from a realism prospective, what might...
You must not have been around back in the Civ3 days when fast expansion was how you had to win. Like... if you couldn't get 3-4 cities in the first 20 or so turns you fell behind (maybe not 20 turns, but you get the point).
The whole point of those games were to expand as quickly as you...
First post! I've been lurking for a few days and finally designed to join. *golf clap*
I'm pretty sure this upgrade quirk was in Civ 4. The whole point of upgrading is to bring your unit to it's current "technological" form. For example, if you have Spearmen, but have the ability to make...
