Revised strategy for Emperor and Deity levels

Great strategy! I'm playing with the germans now (deity, standard map with continents, 8 civs) I started on the same continent as the english, very close to london. I started with three cities, built barracks (except for a temple to get to an extra iron resource), developed iron working and kept...

    High Scores

1498 Deity. I suffered a humiliating defeat. I stayed alive and that's that. The game was won by the Russians by space race in 1500 AD (that soon?! That soon.) The guy that beat deity played the smallest map with three civs on a pangea world, but still 13700 points... whooo.. that's a lot...

    Civelopedia vrs the manual

Yeah, sure great stress and all, deadlines. NO F*****G EXCUSE!!!! When you pay 50$ for a game I expect the documentation to be accurate, when your new to the civ games it can be really confusing I think. I don't care if they already sent it to the printer. Mistakes cost money. I want Firaxis to...

    Deity

Finally a Deity player! I also lost the space race, in which I didn't actually compete because my technology was too far behind. Also I had not enough cities I think, about 15. I too just hung around until late game. In my next game I'm gonna conquer a few cities ASAP from the weakest AI and...

    Golden Age bad?

I think Golden Ages are great! I had one with the Chinese after winning a battle with my Rider. I had approximately 15 cities, it was around 1 AD, I was in monarchy. My gold income went up from 15 to 55 a turn! That way I was able to buy a tech every 2 or 3 turns. I didn't notice any production...

Civilizations that should have been in civ III

I think the Spanish should definetely be included, their influence on history is overwhelming as Rosa pointed out. Let's not forget spreading catholisism over the world. Opposing a culture to such a large group of people is quite impressive, as todays civs have the greatest problems with...

    Civelopedia vrs the manual

I noticed it a couple of days ago too. Opened a thread and got no response, like people just don't care. The manual says Hanging Gardens will make 3 content citizens happy in city where built and 1 in all other cities. Civilopediae tells me it turns them from unhappy to content. Also the game...

One Thing They Left Out of Diplomacy

I think you should consider with whom you'll form a mutual defense pact in advance, instead of whining afterwards. Bargaining for peace and war would be a nice function for a small wonder or even a great wonder.

Help! (Getting out of the Army)

Try using civ specific units. When I used Immortals (Persian) I got 2 leaders in early game, one from a defensive victory and one from a offensive victory.

    Culture Loss!!

That's for certain. I conquered Babylon in one of my games, which was on the south side of a large map. The nearest Babylonian city was halve way across the world. It was a size 6 city, all babylonian (four happy, two content) citizens and yet it turned back to the Babylonians. Etnic cleanthing...

    Machiavelli was a civ fan

I think this isn't a good strategy, at least not at the higher levels. It will destroy your reputation, which takes a very long time and a lot of gold/resources to repair. On the lower levels, when you are equally or more advanced and more powerful than the AI, it's probably a very good...

    A Virtuoso Performance

The manual says you'll have to give a virtuoso performance to survive at deity level and that it is theoretically possible to win at deity level. I survived at deity level, using the pope- startegy( focus on taxes and buy your techs). I was playing the Chinese against four other civs(French...

    A winning strategy

On a smaller map against a lower level AI the startegy wil definetely work. Build two settlers so you have three cities, go for iron working and conquer the world. But deity level is another story. You need to have at least 20 cities relativly early. If you conquer them, or try to conquer them...
