Stuck on your own continent at the start

On high difficulties, isolated starts are really problematic as the early beakers from trade routes really helps you out. Without the extra science, it will be extremely hard to get off the ground.

    Culture Farming gaming the system?

On high levels, Deity especially, the AI is given an insane advantage. The only conceivable way to win is to do what the AI is not doing, whether it's having better war tactics, more concentrated scientific focus or gaining culture by any means necessary.

    The Real Estate Broker Strategy

I've tried this. Doesn't exactly work, a settler costs more in gold than you can get out of a 1 pop, newly founded city. If you decide to build, you're costing yourself growth and production by doing so. In addition, on higher levels, the AI will settle everywhere anyways, so you're also...

Installing Mods on Civ5 for Mac

Hello, really appreciate your work on this guide, but I have a difficulty I can't seem to work through. I've already installed a mod, then unpacked it with keka, but it doesn't give me a folder, it's just the .civ5mod file. Once I put it in the designated folder, I can access the mods button on...

Fall of Rome by difficulty and playstyle

Hey Forum! I love playing civ, and have become proficient enough to pop the occasional win on deity. However, I've rarely played any of the Scenarios, and if I do, it's for 50 turns until I get bored (Civil war excluded). They often don't seem to be interesting, and I don't want to muck...

Can you win with just ANY civ on Deity?

Don't worry about score. The only stats you should only be watching are literacy rates and from time to time your soldiers in comparison to the average. I don't remember a single deity win I've had (Only 4, so small sample size i guess) in which I fielded more points than another civ that...

    Why did I become unhappy?

The monarchy policy rounds up while counting pop. For example; 3 pop=+2 happiness 4 pop=+2 happiness 5 pop=+3 happiness etc. Pick up Aristocracy soon and you can steal that 1 happiness right back.

Is Aztec UA really as bad as I think?

This. Raging Barbs+1 barbcamp+ 2 jags+ 1 archer placed around every other tile around the camp= oogles of culture. It's a great bonus for helping you upkeep an army you're saving for later.

    How is Siam now?

They're still powerful, but nowhere near the top tier that they used to sit at. As to whether they're fun or not, I guess you just have to play them. I enjoyed using them pre-nerf, and they require more effort to use now certainly, but if you didn't like them pre-nerf, I see no reason why it...

    Remove research extra cost

The discovering of new technologies depends on how many educated people you have, and how well they are educated, not the percentage of people you have educated. If I were to have a group of ten scientists under my command, say, they wouldn't discover technologies any slower just because I hired...

    Remove research extra cost

Well, it's fireaxis. Expansion and Liberty was too good in G&K, so they took measures to nerf it into the ground. I guess they wanted small empires to stand a chance in the game as they changed the culture mechanics, which was basically the only VC that benefited small empires.
